Btw, I haven't played the Souls game, but from what I've been seeing of Bloodborne, it just seems really really dark. Is that normal for the series? I have no issues with the gameplay itself though.

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are dark. Dark Souls 2 not so much, but this is by the team that did Demon's and Dark, so yes, expect it to be very dark. Miyazaki said that torches will be absolutely necessary as some areas will be pitch black.
