I did a lazy search so I'm not sure if this was reported or not, but anyway I'll just post it:

Tokyo Xtreme Dated in Japan
Plus, a few new details on Genki's street racer.
By Anoop Gantayat

February 9, 2005 - Genki has announced a final release date for the new PSP edition of Shutokou Battle. The series, known in America as Tokyo Xtreme Racer, will arrive to Japan on 4/21 with a price set at 5040 yen.

A few new game details have also been revealed. In additon to one on one SP Battles, the game has two added battle types: Team Battle where five cars race, and Ranking Battle where your goal is to gain the highest rank in your team.

Genki has once again gone for reality with the title's raceways. Those familiar with Tokyo will see such landmarks as Tokyo Tower, the Rainbow Bridge and Odaiba. All the famous freeway lines will make their way into the game.

We'll have more as Shutokou Battle approaches its April release.

I've always secretly been a fan of this racing series, so I hope it turns out ok. Might be something I pick up from the bargain bin.

this looks cool, and i'm a fan of the franchise, but i think ridge racers and wipeout pure will provide my psp racing fix. genki should do super magnetic niu niu 2 on psp. on anything, really.

What is this "Super Magnetic Niu Niu (neo)"?

it's the best 3d platformer ever. imagine crash bandicoot with exacting level design, an almost treasure-esque mechanical gimmick, and charm to burn. it's on dreamcast, "niu niu" being the japanese release and "neo" the domestic.

1. I'm made Kaido Battle never came to the US.
2. What's the deal with SB Online? Haven't heard a peep out of Genki since it was announced.
3. Where's the next SB dammit? I need more Shutokuo Battle!!!!

Seems Genki decided to split up it's racing franchises for the new handhelds. PSP gets Shutokuo Battle while DS gets Kaido Battle. There's a snippet of Kaido DS in one of the DS promotional videos, but I think it might be FMV.

Oh and why did Sammy back out of that US release of Kaido Battle PS2 anyway?
