such a good movie. just one example from his great career.

tom, you're awesome.

Tom Cruise is awesome. I loved him in rain man, he was very convincing as an autistic man.
Collateral was nice as well, his role in Tropic Thunder is probably my favorite.

a douchebaggy whitewashed film? probably. I don't give a fuck. decent directing, hans zimmers score, watanabe and some nice cinematography and good costume design oh and samurais, is enough to give me a hard-on.
I am so glad I am not pretentious enough to hate anything that is non-kurosawa when it comes to this. I love both. fuck im awesome.

He is so tiny in real life. I love how he in top gun and other films really was such a massive sex symbol, strong and big. Nothing wrong with being a smaller man, its just that his roles and characters he played symbolised someone tall, and they constantly had to fix camera angles, have him stand on boxes in close-ups with other actors in frame.
They even used some of the LOTR tricks to play with perception, and distance of the character to make him seem bigger and them smaller.

What can I say, I actually really liked the third Mission Impossible. Do you remember 2006? It was just after "tom cruise is insane in oprahs couch" and wrecking the batman begins opening to promote war of the worlds and all that shit. Everyone wanted this to fail so bad, but if I recall right, everything else that summer failed.
I believe among them was pirates 3, cars, da-vinci code, superman returns, and they all ended up like being pieces of shit. MI3 was a really solid, good action movie. It was also one of those that was not CGI heavy, didn't take the bourne moving action camera and fast cutting, and most importantly, phillip seymore hoffman was a good villain and that was why it worked a lot of the way. One movie dwarfed MI3 on it's own turf though. And that was Casino Royale. A Action masterpiece. Perhaps the best Bond film ever.

MI2 I also like much more than many other people. Hans Zimmer made some great songs for this( I love this scene.. injection: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UqM_PHSv8w < great music). MI1 I actually like the least. I saw it recently and I dont think it holds up very well. MI2 had many flaws, but the action worked well, and it had a good look about it. I had a time faulting it.

Collateral. The best Tom Cruise film ever. I actually even like it more than Magnolia. This one hits a nerve after multiple viewings. If you really think that Cruise is a psycho in real life, he probably was able to take some of that and put it into this rational but cold, character.
I really really this film is a gem, and horrible underrated. It's one of Mann's best along with Last of the Mohicans and Heat.
Love this scene, "yo homie, is that my briefcase" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmKR6evZRQQ < It has a bit of documentary in there. It's such great proof how camera movements can dictate what we feel and how we see things. So many people don't think about this when they talk about good cinematography. Makes me go FFFFFUUUUUU all over my man tits.

others I liked are Minority Report, but he was just Tom Cruise in that film. He was great in Eyes Wide Shut. That film rocks!

Young John McCain, I think

Edit: Er, maybe not that young, he was nearly 40 when that pic was taken. But then again, McCain's so old he actually lived on Pangaea at one point in time

HAHAHAHA, nice one mate.:lol :lol

Actually their noses are similiar. I can see why you would make the confusion:D and they are both around the same height. Guess that was what the casters thought too, doh.

Wouldn't a remake of Tootsie be great with Tom Cruise as a Tranny? He said himself that he wanted more weird roles like Tropic Thunder. He can actually evolve into something. Sure he overacts sometimes(or alot) but that's just his style.

Who is with me? Tom Cruise for Tranny! No censored pixel shit. lets just see it as it is.

Funny, I just watched Jerry Maguire last week. Love that movie.

Cruise always makes movies worth watching imo.. although that Knight&Day movie looks a bit lame.

Is this a Tom Cruise appreciation thread? Cuz I'm all over the cruise-missile.

SAMURAIS VS NINJAS, do I need to say more?

Collateral
17556__collateral_l.jpg

Probably Tom Cruise's best role and Mann's best movie.

Tropic Thunder

Cruise made this movie for me.

I have a difficult time ranking his best movies....they're all amazing.

Worthy mention to Vanilla Sky though, he and Penelope Cruz were great in it.

After Tom got bagged by those Scientology weirdos and he got all weird and shit, I really have a hard time watching his movies, even the ones I like. Cruise is excellent in movies like Top Gun, Rain Man, Jerry Maguire and the last one I liked was the Last Samurai. As for the rest... all went downhill. I saw he has a new movie, Knight and Day with Cameron Diaz?

I did like his minor part in Tropic Thunder. DIET COKE!!!

Love him as an actor. Les Grossman is one of the funniest characters ever :lol

"big dick playa"

"swingin past ya kneeees"

Oh god :lol :lol

As easy as it is to dislike his spiritual views and denial of his sexuality, as a movie star, Tom Cruise is fucking awesome.

He's a prime example of how celebrity media culture has ruined the idea of the movie star.

Not particularly impressed with his acting. Or his personality. Actually, I'm not impressed with him in anyway.

I take that back. I am impressed how he's manuvered himself as one of Hollywood's biggest players with such little talent and gravitas.

This thread has gotten this far without mention of Minority Report?

That movie is sick.

Edit: Nevermind, some people mentioned it. But ill reiterate that its awesome.
