Transformer One is fucking awesome

No. The humor is significantly better and the emotional weight is actually pretty good. It's legit. If you are a longtime transformers fan it's worth a watch.

Thanks for your Feedback Jason <3

Much appreciated.

I was hoping to hear that! I'm far from a dedicated hardcore fan but the OG style is what drew me in initially. It's been available for rent for quite some time so I might as well reading your response.

Watched this one this morning since I woke up at 05:00.

First of all; and I ain't FX conneseur; I loved the visual, combat was awesome and had room to shine. As well as the character building and humor.

On a superficial (and underlying) perspective I enjoyed the ride a lot.

Very entertaining from start to end.

And a great (somewhat forced) set up for a sequel; but then again that's what I would want to see.

For some reason I was taking notes in regards to tropes (movie/real life) while watching.

Preface: Not known with it's lore so bear with me pls lol.

Vatican esque hidden knowledge area
Hierarchy
Slave mining
Suppressed civilisation
Holographic false Idol not talking from his heart
Calling slaves saviors
Implying they have autonomy and are selfless through idol worship positive feedback
False expedition (surface)
Distract population with race
why explore when truth is purposely hidden
Fear for pushnisment
50 levels instead of 40.
Correct about false idol (obvious)
"idol/leader" has a higher up
All work/emergency goes to said higher up
Insect Hybrids
True essence removed by birth ( no full potential)
Surface is beautiful
Trains are in danger by said surface

ALL IS ONE

Nice film would watch again

My son is big into transformers right now and we’ve been watching this movie every night this week. He loves it. I got him all the 1-step transformers toys and plays with them while watching it.

Shame there won’t be a sequel since this bombed.

You might check them out first as there is some blood and violent imagery in it, like a PG-13 level I’d say, so I don’t want to blindly recommend something you don’t want your kid to read depending on his age and your parenting guidelines, but I’ve read the first trade volume (issues 1-6) of the brand new Transformers comic series by Image Comics who got the IP’s comic rights recently, and the comic slaps. I’m especially happy as a Starscream fan, he’s vicious, backstabbing, selfcentered, a big loudmouth, they nailed depicting my favorite Decipticon.

While the issues so far are totally readable on their own, they do tie into a larger universe Image has made called the Energon Universe.

Void Rivals, by Walking Dead comic writer Robert Kirkman, follows two alien robots, each from a faction at war with each other, who are stranded on a planet foreign to them and have to work together to survive. They’re not Transformers but certain moments tie into the Transformers comics’ events. There’s also the various GI Joe miniseries, each focused on a solo Joe hero or villain like Duke or Cobra Commander, that are also set in the universe (an ongoing GI Joe main comic is starting soon IIRC), and also a certain Joe character cameos in an early Transformers issue.

But like I said, what I’ve read of it so far, the Transformers comic seems perfectly followable so far on its own. So hopefully it might be something your son could enjoy if you look into it and think the content is okay for him.

This?

Is there a TPB yet? My son loves Starscream and Soundwave. Those are his favorites.

That’s the one. Yeah, there’s a trade paperback, the first one is what I read (though I think now I’ll wait for the hardcover versions as they’re releasing a hardcover Vol. 1 with the first twelve issues later this year, but don’t worry, they’re still doing the paperback versions as well, just giving customers both options they can choose from).

Here’s the paperback volume one:

Yeah, as I said, Starscream plays a big role on the Decepticons’ side, and Soundwave has plenty of scenes as well.

Cool, I also forgot to add the series does make it a very clear “good and evil characters can and will die” angle, it’s not as extreme as the 80’s animated Transformers movies in that regard (which was offing characters practically every minute), but just also keep that in mind. Granted, most major entries in Transformers: whether it be G1, Beast Wars, Animated, Prime, the Bay films, etc. will kill off one or more Autobots so most kids who are fans are mentally prepared for it, but just a heads up if you have your kid reading it.

He’s fine with that stuff. I make sure to drill it in his head that movies and shows aren’t real. It’s all for fun. He loves Sentinel Prime and didn’t bat an eye when Megatron ripped him in half. This comic will be nothing to him.

I actually was surprised too. I hate the western computer generated graphics movie style very much in general. and I didn't expect anything going in with the kids.

but to my surprise I watched it from the beginning to the end without falling asleep. that is pretty impressive for me because I usually start to get dizzy 20 mins in.

but the movie was fun. i recommend watching it.

It really is. Anyone judging the movie based on the trailers is doing a huge diservice to themselves. I was guilty of that as many others in this thread. It's so good the movie is worth buying on Blu-ray.

Did anyone notice Art Deco being highly used in and outdoors?

Also why have surface trains when "nature" seems to fuck them up?

Maybe already mentioned it

Looking at Galactic Trials ATM but have to see some gameplay.
