And so it’s bigger than any one of us, and we have to do everything that is in our power to save Terri Schiavo and anybody else that may be in this kind of position.

And let me just finish with this: This is exactly the issue that’s going on in America. That attacks against the conservative movement, against me, and against many others. The point is, it’s, the other side has figured out how to win and defeat the conservative movement. And that is to go after people, personally charge them with frivolous charges, and link that up with all these do-gooder organizations funded by George Soros, and then, and then get the national media on their side. That whole syndicate that they have going on right now is for one purpose and one purpose only and that’s to destroy the conservative movement. It’s to destroy conservative leaders and it’s, uh, not just in elected office but leading. I mean Ed Feulner, today at the Heritage Foundation, was under attack in the National Journal. I mean they, they, this is a huge nationwide concerted effort to destroy everything we believe in, and, and you need to look at this and what’s going on and participate in fighting back.

Don’t, you know, the one way they stopped churches from getting into politics was Lyndon Johnson, who passed a law that said you couldn’t get in politics or you’re going to lose your tax exempt status because they were all opposed to him when he was running for president. That law we’re trying to repeal; it’s very difficult to do that.
But the point is, is when they can knock out a leader then no other leader will step forward for awhile because they don’t want to go through the same thing. When, if they go after and get a pastor then other pastors shrink from what they should be doing. It forces Christians back into the church and that’s what’s going on in America: “The world is too bad. I’m going to go get inside this building and I’m not going to play in the world.” Uh, that’s not what Christ asked us to do. And, and so this, they understand that it is a political maneuver, and, and they are, uh, going to try to destroy the conservative movement and we have to fight back.

So, please, this afternoon, each and every one of you, if you know a senator give him a call. Tell him, they’ll say, “Our bill can pass in the House.” Tell him, “That’s fine. Your bill’s okay but the House bill is better and, uh, I want the House bill.” Particularly if you know Democrats, uh, don’t let them get off the hook, um, by hiding behind one House and the other is adjourned. We can do anything we need to do to pass any bill that we need to pass. So I appreciate what you’re doing. God bless you and thank you for the Family Research Council.

DeLay, blaming the left-wing and their organizations for consistenly attacking the conservative movement who wants to rid the seperation between church and state.

To that I say, "The left is organized?"

:lol

civil war 2 is going to be the only way to settle this.
You know, I'm beggining more and more to agree with that assesment. Screw this democracy bullshit. Their needs to be a prerequiste to vote in the form of a test that asks you a series of questions and if you answer any of the questions in such a way that they contradict the way you answer any other question you're not allowed to vote.

I don't care what Christ told you to do, DeLay; Christ didn't get you the job, your constituency did. And man o' man what I would give if there was any truth to his allegation of Christians being forced back into the church. Given the current political climate, that couldn't be farther from the truth.

We'd be fucked... They've got guns, and we (not me, but most people like me) are afraid of guns.

Yeah, and you'd have to pass the test to run for office too.

Its like the bs about the liberal run media which always changed the subject from the war in Iraq to nonissues like gay marriage and is now having a filed day talking about nonissues like vegetable woman in Florida. I hate to bring up that book, but its impossible to avoid this ridiculous doublethink.

Forget the Civil War 2, I think most of us would be happy just to change the way the first one ended.

"...I am not a federal employee. I am a constitutional officer. My job is the Constitution of the United States, I am not a government employee. I am in the Constitution." - Tom DeLay from "Talk Back Live" on CNN [1995 December 19]

Clearly, Macam, Tom DeLay disagrees with you. :D

Eh it doesn't seemed organized enough, at least not on the same level as the other side. Delay's statement sounds like he's talking about a vast left wing conspiracy... I can't wait to see if he gets the same kind of media attention Hillary got for her statement.

For a second there, I thought that last sentence read, "I am the Constitution." But then, that seems to be, for all intents and purposes, what he meant in the end I suppose.

Careful with saying that -- I stated a similar position a couple of months before the election and provoked a shitstorm.

Boy, that vast left-wing conspiracy has sure been doing a great job winning Congressional seats and the Presidency, eh?
Drinky, that's obviously just a trick to make honest Republicans look foolish, much like when Saddam Hussein quickly destroyed his WMDs before the invasion instead of using them on the U.S. because he knew that looking silly is what Republicans hate most.

First tragedy, then farce.
the best part about living in Austin is I get to vote for Ronnie Earl. Please, Ronnie indict his ass, you know you'll be DA for the next 1000 years if you get a conviction.. and with Austin going over 70% for Kerry, unless they move the trial, this fucker isnt going to get an impartial jury.. he wont have a chance. :lol

Definitely 'eye-rolling' stuff right there. But it's just politicans pandering to thier paranoid fringes of thier base.

It was no different then the Dem's saying there is going to be a mandatory military draft within the year.

You people put too much credence into what these politicians say ... i wihs you would wake up and reject ALL of it.

Poor Drinky. :(

Tom DeLay is going to take the fall for this whole congressional misadventure. He was already in big big trouble because of his repeated violation of ethics and his subsequent purging of the Ethics committee in the 109th, but this is probably going to seal the deal.

I don't expect Tom DeLay to be running again for Congress in 2006. It's time to retire and take his business to the talk circuits and K-street, where all bad GOP critters (Armey, Gingrich) go when they either fail specactularly or get so mired in scandal that their own party starts to usurp them.

Another civil war is pretty much unfathomable, btw, and it's a pretty unfunny joke that we would even mention it.

Hmm... Christ also didn't want money loaned at interest. That used to be a pretty big sin. I wonder what "The Hammer" thinks about that? Or eating shellfish?

Doesn't look like many people are against that idea now.
