Chaos Walking jumped onto my reading waiting list after I read A Monster Calls and how good that was.

Looking forward to this.

Thought the protagonists were supposed to be younger -like middle school age- but not surprising they would go with older actors.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Even with Liman involved I wouldn't be totally sold but Charlie Kaufman is writing this? Hmm interesting. Never heard of the book but I haven't really kept up on the YA scene much. I admit I've not been blown away by a lot of the darlings these last few years.

YA novel hell.

They chose wrong.
Here's the thing with YA. It's no different than any other books. Don't let the glut of boring "fighting to survive" dystopian/secret romance movies make you think that's all those books have to offer. Hatchet, The Giver, Harry Potter, The Outsider, Lord of the Flies, Bridge to Terabithia, Holes are just some examples of classic YA

Guys don't let that generic description mislead you. The entire theme of the book is actually about
gender
.

Here's a blurb.

Todd Hewitt is the only boy in a town of men. Ever since the settlers were infected with the Noise germ, Todd can hear everything the men think, and they hear everything he thinks. Todd is just a month away from becoming a man, but in the midst of the cacophony, he knows that the town is hiding something from him -- something so awful Todd is forced to flee with only his dog, whose simple, loyal voice he hears too. With hostile men from the town in pursuit, the two stumble upon a strange and eerily silent creature: a girl. Who is she? Why wasn't she killed by the germ like all the females on New World?Propelled by Todd's gritty narration, readers are in for a white-knuckle journey in which a boy on the cusp of manhood must unlearn everything he knows in order to figure out who he truly is.

Most recent YA movies have been trash, and this casting certainly does nothing to make me think this will be different.

Yeah that is my first thought, I can see Tom, but Daisy is way older then i pictured for the girl.

By the way, a really fucked up book
