Tom Warren: Starfield PS5 port was originally dropping with the first expansion - Halo Switch Port might not include all games

On Starfield (45:29):

... they were they were originally going to do it (the port) with that expansion and then I don't know what happened there

...they have been working on it for a while so it should be ready (for later this year when next expansion drops), "should" be being the key word.

Rand said FH5 was also delayed from last year:

Because like the forza horizon 5 thing was supposed to happen last year too but it didn't

On Halo (1:23:50):

I don't know if it's, going to be collection in the sense of you know, not like the collection as it exists right now yeah, I wouldn't think of it of every game, probably the most uh the most I can say right now

Rand Al Thor: "What are you looking at for Xbox support of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. In, uh, well, at least the direct in April.
Tom: "Yeah, I'll be curious to see, like, if they're heavily involved in that or not. But they are doing a bunch of games, so -"
Rand Al Thor: "I feel like that's the announcement of Master Chief Collection for Switch and Playstation, right there.
Tom: "Yeah, I don't know if it's gonna be a collection in the sense of ..."
Jez: "Oh really?"
Tom: "... you know, [inaudible]
Rand Al Thor: "Not like, the collection as it exists right now?"
Tom: "Yeah, we don't think it'll have every game, put it that way. The, uh, the most I can say on it."
some brief chatter where Jez seems to think they were talking about the Gears collection for a bit

Tom: Well, you remember I reported they were doing the CE stuff for PS5
Jez: The CE remake, right

I know nothin' 'bout nothin'. But this whole dragging it out to release games in PS5 feels like there's some shenanigans going on behind closed doors. Xbox has been pumping the "engagement" numbers of gamepass these last months. Maybe to try and entice Sony.

But who knows, time will tell I guess.

It'll probably just be the original collection of Halo 1-4.

They'll then sell Reach and ODST as DLC at a later date.

I imagine that Halo MCC would be massively more popular on Playstation than Starfield. Fuck it, I'd buy it again if they released it there just to play couch coop with my wife.

Entice Sony for what? To help Xbox fall outta last place?

The fact that anybody would argue that MS has ANY leverage anywhere will never cease to amaze me.

MS missed their window with Starfield. Their best bet would have been to put it out early last year and at least get PS owners to buy the expansion pass. Now they have little choice but to release it as a complete edition when it comes to PS5.

Starfield was supposed to be the game that told everyone Xbox was here to stay and sadly it didn't move the needle in the slightest.

I am sure it'll still sell reasonably well, but Halo MCC is likely an easy 5M seller.

MS is gonna quickly discover how much easier it is to be a 3rd party publisher.

I'd be pretty annoyed if all we got was a Halo CE remake, that won't have the atmosphere of the original, not to mention the multiplayer from the first game is just okay.

I have no idea. Seems these days that corpos put a lot of weight on "engagement". 🤷‍♂️ I have no horse in this race so, apart from them having access to a large library of games, I do somewhat agree with you.

But it wouldn't suprise me if they (MS) tried to get a deal, if Sony bites is another thing entirely.

Engagement is way to throw red meat at investors shareholders and give the perception of something doing well.

No true bean counter puts any real weight into "engagement"

All this talk about Xbox exclusives coming to playstation and not a single mention of the Ori games. Extremely depressing

They Days of Entertainment were from around 2019 when MS bought Bethesda all way through 2022 with the acquisition of Activision.

Those were the funny days on GAF and everywhere else on the internet.

I bought it on release, played for about 30 hours on Series X and dropped it. The constant loading, shitty UI etc, just became too much for me. PS5 owners aren't missing anything, wonder if they will actually add decent PS5 Pro support. But I won't be getting it again that's for sure

lol they sure picked the right title to scare Sony into allowing their Trojan horse into Sony land.. :) it's probably the worst Bethesda title launched.. sorry I haven't given it a second chance yet as it was so basic and boring at launch. Might try in a year or two when the 1.0 comes out lol

Man, I don't want to pay more for MCC split in different releases, fuck off MS, stop delaying it already and do the whole thing at once mfers...

Nobody on PS5 wants Starfield. Nobody on PS5 wants Infinite. People do want MCC but I doubt MS wants to port over this ancient compilation they've tried to move on from like 15 times.

Starfield...the biggest failure in videogame history. Yes, it's not Concord by several lightyears.

Starfield is from Bethesda makers of Skyrim and Fallout.

Stafield was developed for over 8 years.
Starfield is what urged MS to spend over 7 Billion Dollars to acquire Zenimax when there was the threat of launching timed exclusive on PS5.

Stafield was hyped from Earth to the farthest crappy planet in the galaxy. It was supposed to be the second coming of Skyrim, only much better.

It was the first game Microsoft bought they made very clear it would not be available to PlayStation gamers.

They spent several hours on venues hyping it up, broke the bank (or simply asked daddy MS) for Big League Marketing money, with a Superbowl commercial in 2022 (for a game that would be delayed and launched end of 2023)

After all those years of work, pricey development, marketing campaigns and media coverage that would make Rockstar blush, the review copies of the game were given only to selective schills in an attemp to control the "critical reception" narrative. Many respected and traditional outlets were denied review copies. Several weeks after the game launched it stood under 70 reviews on Metacritic, where tons of much lesser games reach that count within days, and similar AAA games surpass those numbers even before official release.

It didn't take long for the truth to come out. Starfield was a disaster, a mediocre game at best. Steam ccu plummeted within a couple of weeks. By the end of the month nobody was taking Stafield, even old Bethesda games like Skyrim and Fallout 4 had higher ccus on steam and still do. Starfield is an embarrassment that will live on as the biggest dud in videogame history.

I think Microsoft would do well to temper their expectations on this port.. The game has terrible word of mouth and a lot of drama behind it that isn't necessarily related to the game.

This is probably the game that broke MS and got them to push all Xbox games everywhere after all.

Exactly. On my post above also forgot to mention Starfield was supposed to sell lots of Xbox and increase Game Pass subs through the roof. The month it launched Xbox sales decreased in US, and barely moved the needle for subs if only momentarily. MS executives surely figured out if this one didn't do it, nothing will, game pass will never catch on and the release of COD BO6 further confirmed it.

they should just port the whole collection & infinite easy money right there halo will prolly sell up to 10 mil & theyll make a ton of money off battlepasses halo & gears will do big numbers on ps& switch
