Anyhow its quite interesting after TRLR, the models started to look dull. If anything, this makes me wonder they didn't stick with the classic look(particullary from the first game), just visually updated.

Man, remember how fun these games used to be? Then they stayed the same forever. Im looking at you Splinter Cell.

Tomb Raider 2 probably had the best model of the PSOne era Lara's. She lost the razor-sharp boobs and it was before they were more concerned with removing her clothes (Sup TR3's somehow shorter-shorts and one-piece swimsuit-thing) than pushing the series foward.

Her model for Legends is really great though. Still unrealistic, but at least she's more filled out.

But theres a huge difference. Unlike Tomb Raider, the ideas Ubi have threw into each successive SC actually made game work rather than being gimmicky than Tomb Raider.

Remember when Tomb Raider was fun? Yeah, me either.

In all respects, the original TR and TRLR were excellent, if not the high points of the franchise. Everything else besides those however were nothing but bad games.

The original Tomb Raider was one of the top 20 games of all time. The action sequences, storyline, puzzle elements and cutscenes were brilliant in all respects.

The sequels were, for the most part, complete and utter crap.

Maybe Crystal Dynamics can recapture some of the magic from the 1996 game. Not gonna hold my breath, though.

I'm looking at you Devil May Cry.
I'm looking at you Zelda.
I'm looking at you Street Fighter..
I'm looking at you MGS.

and so on...

Not really, those games have enough variation between each installment to warrant purchase. Can you seriously tell me that Link to the Past is the same as Wind Waker? Hell, Link's awakening and Link to the Past, both top-down 2-d zelda games have enough differences already in their mechanics.

MGS1 and MGS2 were completely different games due to first person aiming, and new moves such as roll and hang that significantly altered the gameplay.

The same could be said with Splinter Cell. I just don't get the statement. My intention wasn't to say that MGS and ZELDA has remained the same.

I like the new model. She looks like a person instead of a cardboard cutout with giant boobs.

Please be good, Legends. :(

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who thinks all of the Tomb Raider games were crap, but I'm hoping the new title brings some life to the series. What I've seen looks pretty good so far, but I'm cautious.

I have faith that crystal dynamics will at least make this game decent (and leagues better than the previous games in the series). Anyone pre-judging this game based on the past games in the series deserves a swift kick in the crotch.

The newest model is the best. Can't wait for the new game.

:lol :lol :lol

But not to be really funny but being an artist myself, the new lara model isn't pretty as I've seen better female models from other devs(even crappy devs). Its almost like the designer and artist slapped something together and thought it was great.

If your art is as bad as your threads, then your opinion doesn't count. The new model is better than the old lara models period.

Sure there might be better models for other characters, but Legends Lara is the best one in TR game

QFT

the new model is good. Lara has always had an ecentric polygonal-esque look to her (at least from my obeservations). Its looks like Crystal Dynamics wanted to retain that signature look as opposed to something more conventional with today's technology

....nothing wrong with that IMO.

...ok

Lara's new look is a nice example of 'comicbook realism' - I like it, myself. (Though I think she could've used larger breasts to put her more in line with her previous incarnations, and believability be damned. At least the change will help placate all the people who used to whine about her bustline, annoying bastards that they are. :p )

I always wondered why Lara consistently had such weird looking legs throughout the series. It's like she had her knees crushed or something

Those images are way too small for any decent comparison.

I'm shocked that the latest model of a game character happens to be the best version.
/end sarcasm

They are still big tho, plus they bounce.

I don't much care for these new "model" Laras. Now with next gen on the rise, I was hoping for a Lara that looks just like her cg iterations from the old games.

The first one is really great playing on a 3Dfx Voodoo, TR1 and TR2 were the only ones that I had completed. Although I had also bought all the other released TRs, I hadn't played even half-way on most of them, and had literally stopped at the beginning in TR AOD.
