How I imagine everybody at Saturday 10:59pm

(gif is not mine)

EDIT: woo top of page

What happened?

I won't go into spoilers because it's not the thread for that, but we've talked about plot contrivances and people carrying the idiot ball. The recent episode had people passing the idiot ball around, while dancing through plot contrivances.

Judging upon the reactions in the Game of Thrones thread, GOT appears to be turning full anime in that the writing is bad.
The writing hasn't been good since season 5. This season it has embraced itself as a full on spectacle with a bunch of fan service like character meetings/dialogue (which I'm ok with!).

It might not be a good show anymore, but it is interesting to watch!

oh dear

They've broken off from the books already, right?

Yes. They've cleanly broke now. Season 5 and 6 have pieces of the fourth and fifth books but are a lot of show only material as well.

Vague issues
This season might've turned out ok if all the character motivations were not based around the one of the worst plans I've ever seen and if the B plot wasn't terrible manufactured nonsense.

I always disliked Jimmy Neutron as a kid, and felt confused as to why it seemed semi-popular.

Also I'm really glad Courage the Cowardly Dog came out when it did. If it came out now I imagine it would attract a terrible fanbase.

Yep. It also would have been neutered to shit with some of its more fucked up content. The premiere featured a decapitated character on a roasted chicken.

Jimmy Neutron came at the right time back then. If it aired in this era, it would've been a footnote in my opinion.

remember when they decided sheen should gets his own spin-off show?

remember when someone decided "hey, let's put the jimmy neutron theme song in the one taiko drum master we actually bring to the us"

Jimmy's father, hugh, was a monster. Especially when he got that time gizmo thing.

"He made me experience the miracle of birth again and again and again..."

Though I swear they were starving the writers of the bravely games they freaking love talking about food in those games seriously you'll hear more about food in those games than a cooking game

Imagine if Vanillaware got to draw the food for a Shokugeki no Soma game written by the Bravely writers.

It was early 2000's Toonami when it aired during the day. It's kind of weird to think this series was picked up & tried to change its audience to kids.

Gotta admit though it worked, I don't even remember it being a butcher job with these many edits bravo to the editors seriously.

Now on the other hand if it was in 4kids control, yeesh.

Old Toonami, the current airing was totally uncut.

...you know, if you think about it, Outlaw Star might be considered an old Toonami show, but it actually fits in with new Toonami better. Heh.

You could say that about a couple of old Toonami shows.

It was OG Toonami cuts. Last night was completely unedited, hence the headshot, shanking, and the hotel scene with hooker intact.

Also OG Toonami never had "hell", "damnit", "asshole", and "bastard" in it.

Looks like they mostly edited sexual stuff and language stuff out. Nothing super plot critical, except maybe that Hilda shooting Gene thing.

So makes sense that it worked out in the end.

I'm pretty sure someone mentioned it by now, but the episode that they couldn't air back in the day actually did have some crucial plot details, considering it's something relating to the final episodes (though I won't go into details because spoilers).

Also, found out that despite the entire series being on Crunchyroll, they actually lock some episodes behind the premium subscription (Kimi ni Todoke has 5 free episodes, but then the rest is premium), had no idea they did that, just figured it was the newest episode exclusive for one week.

I legit don't get why it's "up in the air" when Kill la Kill got away with a lot worse. We'll have one scene involving a blur bar to censor barely 5 seconds of (not very detailed) nipples, & that's it.

Hell, KLK probably will have more stuff censored than Outlaw Star from what I can remember.

Edit: I apologize that I've been harping on this a bit (I know this is nowhere near my first time talking about this), it just baffles me that this "will they or won't they" talk even exists when Toonami is now part of Adult Swim & has a very different demographic and restrictions.

Yeah, I haven't seen the episode, but I've heard nothing about it that would be a huge issue. If you guys got Kill la Kill with not-that-many edits, it shouldn't be a big deal?

Eh, it's not a rule, just an pessimistic way of looking at it. It's also wrong, but that's difficult to convince people of.

It'd be nice to have a good chunk of hours on certain days where I could just switch off the negativity-bias part of my brain, without the use of drugs and such (which I am no longer on), not that those necessarily helped me even in that regard. I feel I'd be so much more productive just without question

Just gotta improve upon my attitude as much as possible, I suppose

Same here, especially since I have an awful habit of overthinking because I want to ensure nothing goes wrong, but then it leads to thinking of situations that I don't want to think about.

At the very least, video games & Toonami seem to help.

....boy, today had some rather serious discussions....
