I was kind of hoping The Last Airbender would lead to a lot of great animation not focused solely on comedy that adults could enjoy as well... how wrong I was. Seems that may be happening now at least thanks to Netflix and others.

Action figure sales fell off a cliff.

Why do that when you can make Teen Titans Go! for nothing

Toys were a mistake

But say what you can about Voltron and Castlevania and saying as someone who loves Steven universe but we needed more straight adventures shows

Tonight on Toonami, Starwind and Hawking Enterprises take to the stars once more as Gene Starwind and his diminutive associate Jim are hired to escort some farming equipment only to find that their client may not be who she seems as Outlaw Star officially returns fo the first time in 15 years. Elsewhere on the block, Goku and Vegeta do some recruiting to build their team to fight Universe 6, things look grim with Majin Buu on the loose and most of Earth's mightiest warriors dead or defeated but Goku does have an ace up his sleeve: an ability called Fusion, the enemy Stand users waste no time in their pursuit of the Joestars as not even the first flight out of Japan is safe from danger, Kaneki continues to be the primary topic of conversation back at Anteiku, Biscuit Krueger takes Gon and Killua under her deceptively youthful wings and attempts to guide the boys both to the magic city of Masadora and to new depths of Nen, Lupin and Jigen get back to what they do best: searching spooky old castles for lost treasure, it's filler time for no good reason as we inexplicably flash back to a mission with Naruto and Team 10 that apparently happened during the Chuunin Exams because sure it did, Ymir is forced to reveal her greatest secret to try to keep Christa safe, and Jack and Ashi find themselves within the wreckage of a crashed prison ship and are forced to deal with the deadliest of its former in-mates.

TLA did ultimately help lead to better animated shows, since it's one of the shows that the people who make good animation today grew up with.

Still, though, yeah, we haven't gotten anything full action yet, aside from Jack. Netflix will maybe help with that, here's hoping.

So Super is mostly a recap, but I remember it having some alright moments none the less.

Next week's episode I remember being fun, because it's just
Bulma and Jaco fucking off into space for a bit.

I think it's not just a straight recap, but also a banter episode, so it might be funny?

Yeah, it has some fun character moments.

Mystery Inc. was a far better show than it had any right to be. Just having Harlan Elison voicing himself on the show was a huge,"What the fuck were they thinking?". Its brilliant but so damn weird.

So, tonight's HxH episode. Another full-on-Dr-Movie-directed one.

It has surprisingly a decent number of shots with consistent sakuga (key animation) put to it, and that's awesome. I can only say this for 3 or 4 others with this same animation team - it being the first of them.

HxH is probably one of the most consistent looking longer form animes out there. Obviously some episodes look down right incredible but its never bad looking aside from wonky shots here or there.

I can't think of any noticeably bad looking outsourced episodes in HxH tbh. Seems like DR Movie consistently put out higher quality work on HxH than they did on JoJo DiU, for example.

It had a really good production, and we're watching the blu-ray version.

I can't think of many long-runners that pulled it off as well as Madhouse did with HxH.

I enjoy Togashi drawing a turkey with incredible detail in one scene and then leaving everything else at sketch level lol.

*gets Toonami stream ready, has 60mbps internet, stream has trouble buffering*

I thought my internet was suppose to fix this crap.

Also, I suspect the production was good enough to let Madhouse to review the DR Movie episodes before broadcast, maybe even cooperate with them directly.

Indeed they have! I don't think DR Movie quite knew what to make of JoJo, since I think that was their first time working on it
