In the manga the shonen esque elements are introduced a lot earlier then they are in the anime, it still bothered me though. Same way I can see people being bothered by DMWL randomly going battle shonen after 5-6 episodes/chapters.

Hooooly Shit. That episode was amazing. Wow. Some hope finally. Damn.

So I've watched up to episode 12 or so on crunchyroll, and I want to talk about this for a second.

Most anime shows, hope is just sort of a generic "everything's gonna be okay" that doesn't really mean anything. In this show, at least what I've seen, everything is fucked literally all of the time, and so when those rare moments of hope do show up, they actually mean something. You actually root for something, ANYTHING good to happen to these characters.

The fullbringers said they just want to be normal humans and that getting Ichigo his powers back will help allow them to get rid of their powers.
