Remember, Japan is pretty much completely sealed off except for Nagasaki during this era.

Yeah, I'd imagine the rifle wouldn't be too good, but pretty accurate rifles were available during the revolutionary war. It obviously depends on the situation, as those could just be old ass guns.

My Japanese weaponry history knowledge isn't to good though

well we saw the dutch guys... I think it's supposed to be during the Meiji restoration. (so 1800s)

Samurai would be outlawed if this was the Meiji Restoration.

Champloo is set in the general ballpark of 1660-1680 or so. With massive anachronisms.

I can smell when it's about to rain sometimes, too. It's hard to describe what it smells like. Does anyone else experience that?
