LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- "That '70s Show" star Topher Grace has joined the lineup of "Spider-Man 3," in which he will play one of two villains.

The film's distributor, Columbia Pictures, declined to give further details about his role.

Grace joins Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco, all of whom starred in the first two films. Thomas Haden Church ("Sideways") also has been cast.

"Spider-Man 3" directed by Sam Raimi, is scheduled for release May 4, 2007. The "Spider-Man" film franchise has grossed more than $1.5 billion worldwide for Columbia.

This week, Grace made his onscreen exit from Fox's "That '70s Show," on which he starred for the past seven years. His feature work includes "In Good Company" and "Traffic," and memorable cameos in "Ocean's Eleven" and "Ocean's Twelve."

Unless they go with a different source.

They could go the USM way and have him be Venom since Venom was PEter's friend in that series and he looks the part.

They could also follow the MTV cartoon and have him be Max Dillion who turns into Electro.

You know I never really thought of those 2. raimi has gone on record to sy that the movies are more based on the Ultimate continuity... so we'll see.

Electro is the only character I can think of that he could fit. Young version of The Vulture would be stretching it.

On a related subject, meet the new Beast for X-Men 3:

Smells faintly of rancid stilton.

Foreman left that 70s show? really? wow, how can the show go on without him.

Anyone saw it? How'd he leave?

Season Finale was the other night. Forman signed up for some teaching thing in Africa, and was selected to go. So he went.

Jackie moved to Chicago for a Job, and Hyde was going to tell her he loved her, and wanted to Marry her, and then when he got there, she was all nervous to see him, and then all of a sudden Kelso comes into the hotel room in a towel, saying nobody can see them do it from this room. So Hyde was pretty upset.

All in all it was a good episode, and next year is the last season anyway, so forman is not going to be missed that much....

It was funny because Red finally caught them in the basement....

:(

That 70s show was great but I only watched it when I ended up on it while channel surfing.

Oh I hate it when that shit happens in comedies. COMEDY! No serious soap-opera relationship bullshit unless it's made for a punchline. Don't give us reasons to hate the characters we're supposed to love. Killed so many good sitcoms.

About T7S, dont tell me that the Forman clone that they introduced in the finale (or maybe before) will replace him?

That show is a joke now, seasons 1 to 4 were absolutely amazing though. Sad, really sad.

Anyone else leaves? I think I heard Kelso but it doesnt make sense with the finale

I believe he's set to make only guest appearances next season.

As for Spider-Man 3 and its villains, who knows. Sandman is pretty much guaranteed, and if some rumors are to be believed Venom could be a serious contender if they're using the Ultimate version.

But clearly there are two new villains, so that kinda rules out Harry doing anything, and most likely Dr. Connors turning into the Lizard. Even though I thought the last two films sucked, it seems a horrendously stupid decision to not pursue the Harry thing more, unless this talk of a definitive six film series is really in the works, in which case waiting for the end could be particularly cool in concept (going full circle, ending with Parker's most personal battle). And even though I hated the last two, I'll end up seeing this one now since they've hired two actors I really like for the villains. Damn them.

Bah, I wish these films were remotely good, since Sony and Marvel's dedication to a series with real continuity is admirable. Oh well, X-Men is great and we've got Batman soon.

The only Spider-Man villian I can think of that he has any resemblance to is a young Cassidy/Carnage (and I seriously doubt Carnage would be in the next film).

The first one was decent, and the second was all around stellar. Easily better than the Spider-Man duo, which have shitty scripts and overly ambitious effects sequences that turn out cheesy.

I'm not seeking a debate in this thread, that's all I'm saying.

I agree. That's so far out of any sort of contunity to be remotely acceptable. We all know that Vemon will be one of the characters in one of the movies but, my question is how can they do it without Peter putting on the symboite suit?

Anyone?

Make the symbiote suit be a scientific experimentation. The suit reacts poorly to the human test subject and a villain is born, just like the previous two villains. It's an easy fix, if highly formulaic.

Yeah, and it led to probably the funniest scene in the shows history.

serious gold

Good news for Topher Grace, he finally gets to do a movie where he isnt Scarlett Johansson's love interest, that role might have been fun, kinda limiting though.

/me imagines Topher vs Toby in a fist fight

:lol :lol

cant wait.

What now they have 4 villans. Goblin, Venom, Vulture, and Carnage. I can see them use Venom and have Carnage as a cameo, but who knows. X-men 1 did okay, but they did not really use Toad, Sabretooth very well.

man i love mysterio, i wish they would use him. Granted, he would probably look ridiculous as a live action character. But still, Mysterio!

My guess is he'll be a Peter Parker clone (Scarlet Spider???) that'll replace the real spiderman at the end if Tobey leaves the franchise.

No! Not Maximum Clonage! Maximum Carnage.

I would hope they do Venom before they just introduce Carnage in the movies. I would like to see him cast as Kraven, now that would be interesting.

Carnage is the DBZ of the Spidey universe.
I wasn't a big maximum carnage fan, but it would be a hell of a lot better than going through with Marvel's original MClonage idea...it's just a prediction, anyway. :p

Also, weren't there rumors going around that venom was up next? Carnage would fit.
