Kiefer Sutherland as Martin Bloom

A former investigative reporter, Martin is now a widower and single father, haunted by an inability to connect to his emotionally challenged son, Jake. Caring, intelligent and thoughtful, Martin has tried everything to reach his son. But Jake never speaks, shows little emotion and never allows himself to be touched by anyone, including Martin. While Martin wants nothing more than to communicate directly with his son, Jake connects to his father through numbers, not words. Martin realizes that it’s his job to decipher these numbers and recognize their meaning. As he puts the pieces together, he will help people across the world connect as their lives intersect according to the patterns Jake has foreseen.

David Mazouz as Jake Bohm

11-year old Jake never speaks. He is obsessed with numbers -- writing long strings of them in his ever-present notebooks -- and with discarded cell phones. Yet Jake has the ability to perceive the seemingly hidden patterns that connect every life on the planet. It is up to his father, Martin, to help connect with Jake and shape humanity’s destiny.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Clea Hopkins

Jake’s social worker. Clea believes that Jake’s needs are too serious for Martin to handle. She sees a man whose life has become dominated by a child he can no longer control. She believes that it’s time for the state to intervene. So Jake is placed in foster care, despite Martin’s desperate objections.

Story:

We are all interconnected. Our lives are invisibly tied to those whose destinies touch ours.

This is the hopeful premise of the new drama TOUCH from creator and writer Tim Kring (“Heroes,” “Crossing Jordan”) and executive producers Peter Chernin (NEW GIRL, TERRA NOVA) and Katherine Pope (NEW GIRL, TERRA NOVA).

Blending science, spirituality and emotion, the series will follow seemingly unrelated people all over the world whose lives affect each other in ways seen and unseen, known and unknown. At the story’s center is MARTIN BOHM (Kiefer Sutherland), a widower and single father, haunted by an inability to connect to his emotionally challenged 11-year-old son, JAKE (David Mazouz). Caring, intelligent and thoughtful, Martin has tried everything to reach his son. But Jake never speaks, shows little emotion, and never allows himself to be touched by anyone, including Martin. Jake is obsessed with numbers—writing long strings of them in his ever-present notebooks—and with discarded cell phones.

Social worker CLEA HOPKINS (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) believes that Jake’s needs are too serious for Martin to handle. She sees a man whose life has become dominated by a child he can no longer control. She believes that it’s time for the state to intervene. So Jake is placed in foster care, despite Martin’s desperate objections.

But everything changes after Martin meets ARTHUR TELLER (Danny Glover), a professor and an expert on children who possess special gifts when it comes to numbers. Martin learns that Jake possesses an extraordinary gift—the ability to perceive the seemingly hidden patterns that connect every life on the planet.

Martin’s quest to connect with his son will shape humanity’s destiny.

WATCH THE PILOT

http://www.fox.com/touch/full-episodes/7416335/pilot

Added some reviews. The pilot is getting pretty much all love with reviewers saying the show is great. The only sticking point seems to be their hesitance to put faith in Kring going forward.

Looking forward to this show, hopefully it's good.
Liked Heroes for a year and a half and like 24 for most of its' run.

The OP says premiere is March 19th, but it premieres tonight, unless I'm totally mistaken.

I'll at least give the preview a shot.

At least if the kid barely ever talks we are less likely to get "show ruined by bad child actor"ed.

Yes it premiers tonight.

Looking forward to it, always like Kiefer Sutherland and I hope the entire season/series is good not only S01/beginning.
Like heroes all over again.

Regardless of what you think of Tim Kring or the idea, the poster is really amazing:

Personally, I love it. I thought it was the best of the four drama pickups of Fox this year. I have no idea how the show will work in the long run, and I'm a sucker for world-wide dramas and the themes of the show, but I thought it was really well done.

My one caveat is that you can already see some of the Kring-isms (as in, super pretentious bullshit) in the way it comes off. Even the themes of the show (THE WORLD!) can be a bit smug.

Ok, figured it out, can't believe I didn't know this already.

Apparently tonight is the extended preview (ie. pilot?) of the show, and after tonight it wont be on again until March 19, taking over for Alcatraz.
I don't remember a show doing this recently, but presumably they want to let a big audience see it tonight after American Idol and see what it can do with some hype after that.

edit: well, now I feel dumb, it says that first line in the OP, but I just skipped right past it. OOPs. I'll go away now.

I was wondering if there was a thread for this. Could be a good show.

I really liked Mercury Rising, and this gives me that same vibe.

This show is interesting, not sure what to think about it. Sad seeing Keifer as a run down father after all those years of kickass 24

I like the atmosphere so far. Seeing danny glover and keifer on screen together makes me feel like im watching a movie.

Holy hell. I have heard the promo many times, but I never paid attention. I did not know that was Danny Glover. I thought it was Mel Brooks this whole time.

I wish that kid would have blown up so we wouldn't have to sit through any more of his story.

??

I'm pretty sure that's the last of his story.

And I've come around on this show, now I want to see how they work it into a series.

All that stuff with the phone/oven/photo's/singer, was all done without anything inputed by the kid. Unless the whole point of the kid leaving at exactly that time (for the tower) was timed right, for Keifer to put the phone back down on the baggage, at the beginning.

Bingo. Most of it was done of free will, but just spurred along a bit.

Oh dammit, the hug at the end got me.

Oh shit, Mike Novick!

I half expected the Singer to hear herself over the conversation with the white guy in Tokyo.
