Toys For Bob announces they are now independent

I don't think so but they have an extremely talented team and should have no problem getting contractual work, or could develop their own games/IP.
I'm just curious who they will collaborate with next. They don't seem like they are big enough to publish their games as well as develop. Maybe even make a game in someone else's established IP.

I'd imagine it's a very exciting and scary time to be there.

Happy for them, but it still doesnt change the fact that I think they have one of the dumbest company names of all time.

They did a pretty good job with the Spyro trilogy remake but their Crash 4 was a huge let down with pretty bad level design and art style that wasn't as good as Vicarious Visions' remakes. Good luck to them anyway and hope their next game is better.

I imagine they could approach Activision to work on a new mainline Crash Bandicoot, or Xbox to do a Banjo Kazooie, or hell even approach Nintendo to revive one of their IP.

Or they could create their own thing and pitch it to a publisher to help fund it (if the publisher is impressed and sees potential)

They have a competent resume, so I don't think they will have too much of a problem getting work.

You won't get an argument from me. Just really curious what's next.

According to rumors they're working on a new Spyro game and MS will still fund this project
Yeah I am just referring to the fact that the company's founders went on sabbatical to take on a small indie project that they wanted to maintain the rights too. That seems unnecessary now, they can bring it in house.

Maybe Sega can outsource a Sonic game to them?

Maybe: 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3: The game based on the movie' for multiplat?

It would be a steady paycheck for them and they would probably do a better job than Sega.
But only if they can shake up the formula. Speed kills Sonic games.

I figured as much. They'll still collaborate with huge publishers to make other companies IP's. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
There's a problem with that if the publisher messes them around like (extreme example) Phantom Dust or just decides the game isn't worth promoting like Demon's Souls.

Atlus USA did a lot more with that despite being tiny compared to SCEA.

I would imagine that Toys for Bob will probably still work with Activision on various properties, mostly Crash and Spyro. But you know, wouldn't be too surprised in Sega outsourced Sonic again. Though Sonic Boom failed as a game.. but was still successful as an animated series... What it Nintendo contracted them to make a new DKC game?

So why are they going independent then?
Because they came to an agreement with Microsoft?

I mean they are making a game for Xbox / Or their game will be on GamePass so must be on good terms.

so how many xbox exclusives did Toys for bob make before they were basically shut down?

Wow, so now everything that has happened over the past 4 years for the activision owned toys for bob is now microsofts fault?

Ms announced the acquisition of activision in Jan of 2022. The acquisition of activision wasn't completed until October of 2023. So MS had control for the past 6 months, in which time they cut some staff, then allowed them to split off from activision, and agreed to publish thier new game.

Your talking complete nonsense.

Thanks for making it clear your post was all about bias and not the facts about toys for bob. Yes, we get it, ms evil, doesn't make games, bla bla bla bla bla bla bla. Maybe next time pick a topic where they have actually done the thing you claim they have done.
