Toys for Bob interested in on working on Banjo-Kazooie

So, yay or nay? That franchise has been dormant long enough. Time to bring it back.

There's also been a resurgence of 3D platformers in the past few years.

The developers at Toys For Bob have been cooking something up for a little while now. We don't know what that is quite yet, and hopefully, that changes at some point this year. However, a new interview with a studio head might have already pitched the idea to Microsoft that they wouldn't mind picking up the Banjo-Kazooie IP next.

Toys For Bob has been around for a while, and you might know them from Skylanders or some of their revival works. If you don't recall, they brought back Crash Bandicoot along with the Spyro franchises. However, it wasn't long ago that they could spin off from Activision after the Microsoft acquisition. That allowed them to go independent. With more freedom to work on projects that interest the team, they partnered with the folks at Xbox.

As we already mentioned, this is an untitled project related to the Xbox game. Hopefully, we will learn more about it soon. However, a new interview has already requested interest in working with the Banjo-Kazooie franchise. This comes from the YouTube channel Canadian Guy Eh.

The channel interviewed Paul Yan, one of the studio's heads. While the interview mainly discussed the focus on going independent, it did touch on what projects the studio would like to work on next. According to Yan, they have already established a great partnership with Xbox on their current game, and he would personally love to see the chance to work with the Banjo-Kazooie franchise.

Paul Yan noted that the IP has been hibernating too long, and if given the chance, it seems that the studio would love to bring this IP back into the limelight. I'm sure there is a massive fanbase hopeful that comes to fruition. After all, the last mainline installment from this franchise was Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, which was back in 2008.

Give them whatever they want.

I'm not even a Crash fan but Crash 4 was so much better than any right it had to be (outside of the difficulty at the end perhaps).

Microsoft has all these IPs and studios that want to work on them, if only there was some way it could be done.
It's really frustrating. I know it takes time to make video games, but it feels like MS/Xbox has been acquiring IP/studios for the past 7 years yet the IP they own seem to largely feel underutilized. If TFB has enthusiasm for BK, let them make the game.

Somewhere right now, the remake of Banjo is being worked on. Likely Toys For Bob.

Very much looking forward to this getting announced. If it is on Switch 2, PC, Xbox and Sony. This will sell very well. Several million copies.

I'm not really into platformers but if they're going to make another Banjo then Toys for Bob are a good fit to make it

I wonder if there is any real demand for Banjo, or is it just a bunch of loud-mouth guys in their 40's and 50's.
On a personal level I hope it's a Spyro 4 where they discard all the non-Insomniac Games Spyro games from the wilderness years when the IP was passed around without any direction.

TFB is already working on a game right now, and I'm pretty sure they're enthusiastic about that since they pitched it to MS as their first independent project.

There's no MS studio that isn't working on something right now.

Maybe Compulsion since they've just released SoM, but I doubt anyone is keen for them to work on Banjo.

Reminds me of all the calls to hand Halo to ID software, as if that wouldn't translate to them dropping Doom.

Bingo!
Less stupid compared to those crying for Sly Cooper (which was a flop even back in the day), but it will be case of "good luck".
Spyro 4 will do well, though.

Everyone also forgot two things.

1.) Remember the reaction for Smash Bros? That was Smashes biggest reveal reaction.

2.) Sakurai hinted that everyone you see in Smash will be represented on Nintendo in some way. I don't think Banjo represented meant NSO.

This and Spyro trilogy should have been enough to get Banjo remake greenlit. Or if they were concerned, they could have asked Nintendo to co-fund development of the remake. I actually believe Nintendo would have agreed.

We saw how complex things were with Goldeneye. Maybe this isn't AS complex, but it is still complex.

Banjo was never as popular as Crash or Spyro and Crash 4 didn't perform anything close to Crash Trilogy. This is why Activision lost interest.

It's actually quite interesting that Microsoft cut Toys for Bob loose but agreed to publish their next game. My guess is it would be a Crash or Spyro game and that Toys for Bob got the greenlight because if the game doesn't work out Microsoft isn't on the hook for follow up games if they don't want them. It's basically a licensing agreement where they probably can't lose.

I see your point, but I still think they know what Banjo could do. Which probably is in the realm of DK. Again, if it was me, it would be a remake of Banjo 1.

Goldeneye, is a difficult conversation. I have no idea, but it seemed difficult to get Goldeneye on XBLA and NSO. Somehow, i believe Amazon is involved also. I believe that is what i read previously.

My sincere hope with Goldeneye, that Nintendo/Xbox/Amazon can come to some agreement to get the same version of Goldeneye or the remastered game on all the systems soonish.

It almost certainly did. Activision wasn't purchased by Microsoft until 2023 which was 4 years after the Banjo reveal.
I understand, but i am convinced someone is making a Banjo remake.
