TR Octopus Arcade stick review; its not cheap but damn is it the best

I get that $450 is a major investment in an arcade stick but damn...considering it works with like two dozen consoles and I can plug it into my MiSTer FPGA and Supergun just by changing the cable...nothing to complain about. Plus PS3/4/5/Switch/PC/Mac/PS2/Dreamcast/Neo Geo/Mega Drive...damn near everything but the Apple Pippin haha

I know there's been a lot of hype on this thing and where there is hype there is usually a let down but for once what was promised was just straight up delivered upon. Plus its heavy enough to bludgeon someone with it in a home invasion pinch

So if people were curious...here it is

Nice, I'm still by rocking my modded Tatsunoko vs Capcom sticks with MC Cthulhu and industrial lock down Ethernet modded cables. They handles everything from the NES through PS3/360/Wii. Anything newer I used PC releases without issue.

I don't play enough fighting games to buy this

I only play Street Fighter 6. Modern controls (sorry)

But I've been thinking about getting a arcade stick so I can learn the classic controls

I know they probably sent that to you free, you sonuvabitch. 😂

I'd love to have one for MiSTer, but it's just nowhere in the budget for me right now. Or at least it's not anywhere near the top of the list.

That said, as beautiful as this thing is, some aspects (like the metal body and gorilla glass or whatever) are kind of overkill.

Yes I say that off the top it was sent for review but also under no conditions; I don't accept anything for review without the "I can say what I want, take it apart, etc etc"

Its def "overkill" but that metal frame really helps for lap play (sounds dirty lol). When you push the stick up with force it stays put (also sounds dirty lol)

Haven't watched the vid yet but I bet that thing is a beast. I kinda wish it had smashbox-style directional buttons as well, somehow, cause I find I really like those for some fighting games.

There will apparently be replaceable face plates for diff styles. I myself can't understand the hit box style but I know people who love it swear by it

Nope. Just aluminum lol

And multiple custom encoder PCBs for every platform it works woth

And all the custom cables

And the aluminum frame and glass top panel

And the machining of the aluminum (which is NOT cheap)

And labor. Packaging. The whole nine yards

Remember you found those parts for 46 euros. You haven't put them in a case. Or purchased an encoder. Or the wires. Or the free labor hours you put in where companies just don't work for free

And of course profit. There has to be profit margin. As any product should have
