Only if you ignore the guy that played him on Broadway.
I dunno, I saw the play with Broderick and Lane twice and own the Broadway recording, and this looks identical except with two major cast changes and a moveable perspective. This might be something I'd enjoy having on DVD, but I don't see myself rushing out to see this. Part of the impressiveness of the Broadway show was the simple fact that they managed to do the script in one shot with hundreds in the audience, along with the occasional bits of improv.
Should be awesome for those who couldn't see them on Broadway though.
I don't think that's why he wanted Larry. He actually liked Larry and wanted him to do it. It's just when Larry fucked up his lines on opening night, it came to Mel that this could finally set him free from the Producers.
Or maybe I'm wrong. It's been awhile since I watched those episodes.
