Saw this today during the BD sales - it was about $30 USD/40 AUD... is this anygood? I remember it got okay reviews... I'm keen to pick it up. Played it for a bit and it wasn't too shabby. THe visuals are a bit of alright, no?

Opinions?

It is an above average game IMO. The graphics are pretty awesome and the boss fights are quite spectacular

i think its Halo for the ps2. (or as close as it will get)

its quite fun, very combat orientated, although the sticks are pretty annoying for aiming, but your target reticle is quite large. some very entertaining Boss battles, that require you, for the most part, to use your transforming ability.

when it comes to the gfx you will be amazed how big the envoirments are and how good they look.

if it had a 2-player co-op option it would be one of the most loved games this gen, but it doesnt and its not.

The level design is the only thing I don't like. The game should be more fun than it ends up being.

The Amazon & Snowy mountain levels were amazing, especially the amazon level. Inside the ships, the flat ice level, the islands were blah in terms of level design but were still quite fun.

I liked some of the levels and boss fights...but ultimately it just feels really boring throughout. A sequel hopefully could really pick up the pacing and make good on the premise.

It feels a little unfinished around the edges, but they put it together in basically a year's time and the core of it is still a really solid game IMO. There are games that spend more time in gestation that feel more unfinished than this one did. They could have had a little more environmental variety (like an urban/city environment), needed to make the inventory system more accessible and definitely could have used real transformers as the regular grunt enemies in the game, not just bosses. That last one was a license restriction though.

Overall, it was a blast to play through for me. Solid 3rd person action with a number of memorable moments throughout. I especially gliding around the Easter Island-like level.

I really liked it. My only problem was that for some odd reason, I just couldn't get a handle on the gliding portions. So whenever gliding was required, it was usually a 30 minute exercise in frustration before I finally got past it. It got so bad that I just gave up on the second-to-last level, vowing to return...someday.
