Ok, So I've been living and working in Canada since June last year, it's been a good ride, but I've had enough, and want to head home to warm Australia. Sound simple enough? Here's where the problem occurs.

Airfares are fucking expensive. The kind of money required is insane, especially working where I do, being on the particular Visa I am on doesn't allow me to work at too many places, let alone decent paying ones. I don't have any type of credit card, nor would I have much hope of being approved for one as I have no credit record in Canada. My Work Visa expires June 13, at which point I can no longer work, and I'm pretty sure they won't want me in the country after that point.

Yeah. yeah I should have seen this coming but really this year is flying by, its halfway through April and it just kinda occured that I better start worrying about this now. Does anybody have any serious advice on how I can actually get home?

For the record, I have checked the slew of supposedly cheap airline ticket sites, to what avail I have no idea, as there is no way to actually purchase them... : /

I wonder if Deportation is such a terrible thing.

Long story short: getting to Australia from anywhere is very expensive. It might, however, be cheaper for you to take a bus down to LA and fly out from there... but even then I'm not sure how much cheaper it'd be and the US border might be a total bitch to get through as an Aussie with an expiring work visa in Canada. Might help to buy the ticket from LA (assuming it makes it cheap enough) online before you cross the border.

I'm not up for a 3 day bus rise, nor a bus fare of $190 USD. The price difference is neglible from what I've seen, though there may be some good deals around for LAX - to Australia.

Hm. Shit. We need to get started on that Star Trek Transporter stat. Run those fucking airline companies into the ground.

You're on a computer, right? Look and see how much it is from various US airports to Austrailia, and if it's worth it, take a bus there.

why not try contacting the Australian embassy or consulate and see if they can help you out.

An idea! I'm not in any dire position yet, though I will look into that, much thanks.
