Tre`s Buying a Guitar, which would you pick?

So, I'm selling one of my basses to cover the cost of a guitar and I'm thinking of picking up one of two models.

Choice A) Fender Jaguar.

I'm in *love* with the surf rock sound and I dig the shorter scale.

Choice B) Fender Jazzmaster.

See a pattern? I don't mind regular scale and the lack of bass cut and I like that it's slightly warmer than the Jag.

Well? Either way, I'm probably going to pick up a CIJ model, whether I have to hit eBay or import one from Ishibashi. (Which, is quickly looking to be a cheaper alternative) I'm going to *gag* Guitar Center to see if they have any in decent shape. Opinions? Thoughts?

The Jazzmaster tends to have more usable sounds than a Jaguar. I don't know how big you are, but make sure you're going to be happy with a short-scale guitar long-run before you buy it.

On looks alone I'd take the Jaguar, but obviously it's mostly about which plays better for you and produces the sounds you want to make. Don't buy until you've tried them both (and some other guitars as well to be on the safe side...)

I think they adjust the polarity of pickups. They can be used to cancel a certain tone from each pickup. Don't quote me on that, I'm only saying it because that's what the pickup switches on my concept model Gibson Les Paul do -- but they don't function properly, because the guitar never left conceptual stages to be sold to the public.

The bottom switches are for the rhythm circuit, from left to right: neck pickup, bridge pickup, bass cut. The switch on the top activates the lead ciruit which is neck pick up only (I might have rhythm/lead backwards), and the two knobs by the switch function as tone and volume.

Update: Guitar shop didn't want to give enough for me to get either, but god damn they had a Candy Apple Red Jag sitting right next to a Candy Apple Red Jazzmaster and I'm gonna have to cry myself to sleep now. Here's hoping for eBay :(.
