Aww, they just want to get closer to him, but now he's hurt. Honestly though, slagging off hardcore fans is kinda biting the hand that feeds.
 
I hope he doesn't self-destruct about it. It's like he thinks Twitter is a sin, and that twitterers find happiness in twittering. He does not want this. Cause it sucks. Nothing that wrong with them wishing for something they could never have. It's not like they all want a wedding band on their ringfinger.

Well kinda sucks. Was a good way to keep up with NIN stuff. Will the NIN twitter still do stuff? Probably right?
 
I'm curious about these Metal Sludge people. Anyone know why they spam / insult Trent while at the same time going to all his shows?

for someone who uses the internet a lot, i'm surprised you haven't seen anything about him using the internet better than most for distribution/sales/fan interaction/fundraising or any number of other things he's done - especially considering how much coverage it gets.
either that or you're just being facetious :lol

not surprising he's decided to bail, must be hard talking openly about stuff online and having crazies writing blog posts about how he's a fraud/ fiance is insane/only fundraising for someone to get publicity for himself/ etc . i'm sure it comes with the territory, but it'd piss me off too.

I dunno, all I know is that someone had a poster saying "WHO DO I NEED TO SUCK TO GET BACKSTAGE?!?!?!?!" at the last NIN-concert I went and the guitarist ripped it off with his guitar while giving the people behind the banner the finger. They just don't like groupies I think...

remix.nin.com? or the year zero ARG? 400 gb of raw HD concert video footage for people to edit as they see fit? relaxing camera policies at shows and putting systems in place to block scalpers?

sure, radiohead did the digital distro thing first (with view to releasing in stores full price later on) but trent reznor raised the bar on how to interact with and reward a fanbase. radiohead haven't done fuck all.

It's funny how Trent Reznor seems to understand and use the Internet more than any other musician, but it's like he's never used the Internet before. Reading his Twitter posts is like reading through a log of a guy that got baited into responding and getting pissed at every troll that ever trolled him.

It's pathetic. He should be up above this, but now he's down in it.
 
I've been a fan of NiN music for decades, but never bothered to follow him (or any other celebrity) on Twitter or any of those social networking sites. Now that he's stopping, I kind of feel like I missed out. Just went to his "NIN/JA" show in Jersey two weekends ago and it was awesome.

I read his whole rant and I understand what he means. I also think it's nice of him to explain everything and open himself up for more ridicule instead of just stopping the updates without saying anything.

Sucks. I don't follow any Twitters but it sounded like he gave personal and meaningful blogs. If I was a bigger fan, it would've been nice to follow.

At least he tried but alas, the power of the trolls are too strong. :\
 
I think that's kind of what you get for having a persona and a band that appeals to unattractive plump females... Who are also attention whores, of course, since that's a primary reason for wearing a NIN t-shirt (maybe it wasn't in 1997 but look guys it's been a while now).

He's probably just freaking out cause he doesn't want to end up like Tom Jones.

But there's also the folks claiming he used the Eric guy for his own benefit (pr and stuff).To me thats worse than those fat nympho's, he's doing a great thing for this guy and getting attention to an important subject and rewarding those who help him.
 
Ugh I hate NIN just for the fact that I have a TR and NIN obsessed relative. She's turning 50 but she acts like a Twilight fangirl at the mere mention of Trent Reznor's name. She travels to all their shows and is in complete mourning with her other too old to be groupies friends because NIN played their last US show.
 
Trent is awesome. He may be a giant asshole, but always with a measure of wisdom, candor, and comedy. Music nowadays needs more Trent Reznors.
