Same here. I heard the neighbors cheering a few minutes ago but now they're really quiet. I hope Trinidad get's KO'd, even though I'm puerto rican, I despise the cocky, marble mouth, piece of shit.

Hopkins is my favorite boxer and I wouldn't mind seeing Trinidad and him tango again. I saw the first fight and it was awesome. No one game Hopkins a chance, but he won it.

I knew it. :lol

Just peeked outside my balcony and the neighbors turned off the lights and went to bed. They're usually pretty noisy and rowdy during Trinidad's fights and whenever he wins they turn the music on and drink/talk until 3:00am but I guess I'll sleep well tonight.

Tito got fucked up. Should have been a shutout, but a few of the judges gave him a pity round. He was getting peppered by Wright's jab ALL fucking fight long, and he didn't learn from it. He kept going to Winky's right for some reason and the jabs kept coming. Wright literally dominated the fight with one punch. Trinidad is done. he has no power anymore he should just retire.

Guess i'll catch a replay of this sooner or later, pretty curious how badly Wright worked him. From what was said here and everything i've read he destroyed tito. Pretty shocked myself, especially after the way tito beat down Mayorga.

Just getting back from a fight party. The fight was horrible. You pretty much watch Trinidad get jabbed over and over again while throwing jabs that wright blocks. It was pretty pitiful. Wright landed 10 TIMES the number of jabs Trinidad did. Awful awful fight. Glad I didn't have to pay for it.

Geez, yet another promising boxer bites the dust.

Don't get me wrong, I have crazy respect for Winky Wright and all he's been through. But boxing overall needs an undisputed champion with flare who can rejuvenate the sport. After his last fight with Mayorga, a lot of people including myself thought Tito was that person. :sigh:

It all started with Vladimir Klitchko. When Corrie Sanders knocked him out it was the beginning of a string of hyped and big name fighters biting the dust. Since we've had Mosley, Dela Hoya, Mesi, Forrest, Sanders, Spinks, Tyson (again), Roy Jones,Tarver and now Tito either losing or getting knocked the fuck out. Even the people who dispense the knockouts get knocked out themselves a couple of fights later...

This is definitely the Dark Ages of boxing. Hopkins is really the only big name boxer that hasn't lost recently. While he always takes care of mandatory challengers, he's only now getting back into big fights with other marquee fighters. Inbetween Tito and Dela Hoya last year, he basically fought a bunch of no-names.

I'm looking forward to the Jermaine Taylor/Hopkins fight next month, but I have a feeling the Executioner is going to crash the hopes of another young prospect. Taylor is impressive, but he hasn't fought a really dangerous opponent yet. His handlers have been very careful with him. But now he's going to take a giant leap to Hopkins. Like I said I'm looking forward to the fight, but I definitely think Hopkins is going to send Taylor back to Arkansas with his tail between his legs.

When Hopkins retires next year (hopefully), the sport of boxing will have nothing left but disappointments.

What a great take. I share your cynicism.

How can anyone call Trinidad a "promising fighter"? Ten years ago he was promising. Than the went on to be a great fighter, wining some big fights and having an excellent career right up until he met Hopkins, who pulled off a huge upset to show the World that he is still a dominant fighter. Trinidad went into retirement to live off the riches he had made in his career.

A few years pass and he's lured out of retirement by Don King and the promise of more huge fights and big paydays. But now, he's a little older and a little slower, and he's meeting a fighter who is where he was a few years back. Hungry, looking for respect, and on the way up.

I agree we're in a low period for boxing. The Heavyweights in particular are really looking sad, and Hopkins is pushing 40, but is still the biggest name in boxing. The reason Hopkins didn't fight anyone between Trinidad and De la Hoya is because he refuses to play the games that the promoters want him to play. He's his own man, for better or for worse, and it has cost him a lot of money and opportunties over the years.

Hopefully we'll get some new blood in the sport soon. With Roy Jones Jr. looking like he is in retirement, and Tito most likely to be headed back that way himself. De la Hoya is most likely going that route as well, although I'm sure he's got another fight or two left in him. If we can get Tyson out of the picture for good, we'll have the stage set for some good new talent to burst on to the scene.

hopefully not in the mold of Ruiz :lol

i dont know, there are still great fights to be had out in the boxing world. the corralles/castillo fight in particular still gives me goose bumps and it's been a few weeks already.

Yes, boxing is in a sad state. There are a lot of washed up stars, and up and coming stars who lose to no names. A Wright-Hopkins matchup could be good.

Yeah I misspoke calling Tito a "promising" fighter. Basically I meant a lot of people were hoping he would come back and resurrect the current state of boxing. Looks like he won't be able to...

I heard great things about that fight. I have it Tivo'ed, I seriously need to watch it today.

Pac-man has had some entertaining fights as well. Though he hasn't delivered a convincing win since the Barrera fight.

Gatti also always delivers an entertaining fight. I'd say he's single handedly keeping HBO afloat. :lol When he fights Mayweather, it should be a very good fight hopefully.

This is the year of "Bad Intentions" better known as Jermaine Taylor. He'll beat Hopkins in July, which will probably lead to a november fight with Wright in which he'll win as well..

Gatti - Ward was awesome. I saw the third one, Gatti won with a broken friggin hand.

All three Gotti - Ward fights were great. The first one was a war! Styles make fights, and they both had the right style to bomb away on each other. Probably the best series of fights in recent memory.

Ill agree to an extent about about the no big name boxers but for the hardcore boxing fans it has never been better. The entertaining fights have been in the lower weight classes. We have had Morales-Pacquaio, Corrales-Castillo, J Manuel Marquez-Pacquaio, Arce-Hussein. Then we have Gatti-Mayweather, Hatton-Tszyu, Hopkins-Taylor coming up. We are finally getting some of the matches we have been waiting for. As far as Trinidad is concerned he has always been a one-dimensional fighter and was exposed as that when he fought De La Hoya.

Tito never should have come back. That kind of layoff would pretty much kill anyones career. No one is ever the same in any sport if they take time off.

Makes what Ali did that much more amazing considering who he fought as well.

I don't think the layoff had anything to do with it. Tito just isn't a technical boxer. He's a puncher. He never adapts, which is why Wright made it look so easy. He looked no worse or better (except for the new haircut!) than when Hopkins give him that ass-whippin' except that Hopkins knows how to go for the kill unlike Winky. And to be fair to Trinidad, even Hopkins would have a tough time with Wright's defensive style.

I agree that Winky is a great fighter, but that was not the same Trinidad that we saw 3 years ago. He has lost a lot of power and speed. I mean he was toying with Mayorga and still couldn't knock him out.

Winky is talented enough to beat Hopkins, but I feel Hopkins will be too smart for him and figure out a way to win the fight (plus he is a cheating bastard who can get in the head of anyone). Then again, Hopkins is getting old and boxers can fall apart real quick when they get older. Should be a great fight. :D

See, people always point out Mayorga's beating as evidence that he lost his punch yet never give Mayorga any credit for having a good fucking jaw. I think it's more of a case of that then him losing any major power. Also, the fight against Wright doesn't offer any evidence either as Tito didn't land any clean shots, all night.
