True Lies 2 with Arnie?!

While Arnold's excitement is encouraging, his math skills seem to be lacking. If Cameron is indeed planning to shoot True Lies 2 with Schwarzenegger – as this earlier report suggests, they'll be waiting at least until January of 2007, which is when the Governator's term expires. That's a bit longer away than "a few months".

Well, it's not as if they'd just be able to start tomorrow if Arnold wasn't busy.
 
Tom Arnold's been saying almost the same thing for about a decade now.

And I'm not exactly a Cameron hater (Aliens and The Terminator are among my all-time favorites) but True Lies SUCKS. A 12-year-old could do a better job of plotting a movie.

First half-hour or so: Arnold vs terrorists
Next 45 minutes: OH NO I THINK MY WIFE MAY BE CHEATING ON ME I WILL HUMILIATE HER AND GET HER TO ACT LIKE A HOOKER
Rest of movie: Terrorists suddenly reappear, Arnold kills people, (OH NO THE TERRORISTS KIDNAPPED MY DAUGHTER WHO HAS BARELY BEEN IN THE MOVIE), Arnold kills bad guy, OMG NOW ARNOLD AND JAMIE ARE BOTH SEKRET AGNTS, even though she showed no evidence of any competence whatsoever

Okay, I'll admit the plot isn't the greatest, but I'm a sucker for Arnie movies and this is one of his better ones in my opinion. No it's not an Emmy Award Winner, but it's a good popcorn flick. I find it quite enjoyable to watch and can't wait for the second one.

I am writing a letter to the Governator about what you said. When he shows up at your place to snap you in half, you'll be sorry.

Reading that initial quote, I thought it was Schwarzenegger talking in the third person. I completely forgot Tom Arnold was in the movie.

LOL of course!! Kindergarten Cop, Twins, That one where he gets pregnant...

Hmmm, perhaps you meant his good *action* flicks? (I'm just playing :) ).

Yeah, I have and like I said, this is one of his better ones (to me, I really do like this movie). No doubt he has ones that are better than True Lies, but this one holds its own.

I would not mind seeing some Eliza, but True Lies (1994) isn't really made for a sequel, especially a 10 year gap sequel. They concluded it nicely as a middle-aged couple with a teen daughter. But now Arnold and JLC are 50+. With Mr. & Mrs. Smith how is an audience supposed to go from young and hip sexbombs to over the hill retirees.

I'm sure they can make money but this does not sound like a good movie. They didn't make a sequel earlier because terrorism in a comedic movie is not funny and it still isn't. Furthermore, MrMrs Smith has basically stolen the formula.
 
True Lies was okay, but very overrated. I actually think Eraser might be better. Didn't Cameron say he would never do True Lies 2 after 9/11?

Any movie that has railguns is automatically top tier action flick material. Eraser freaking rocks and is easily my favorite Arnie movie.

That was the point. It was supposed to be really stupid.
 
Maybe they should have thought about this like 6-10 fucking years ago, come on now! There are some cases where I think the window to make a sequel has been closed, this is one of them.

True Lies was good though, it had a action film parody feel to it. Like when she drops the machine gun and kills all those guys by accident.

Honestly, what is the best we can hope for out of this movie. Mr and Mrs. Smith 1.5?! Or no, let me guess. His daughter from the first movie becomes a spy...a sexy spy. :lol

I think my main problem is that Arnold's character just strikes me as a total asshole. If most of that middle section was cut...
 
I think Eraser is the beginning of the end of Arnoids career. Either that or junior, I forget which one came first. It's the catalyst that set off a giant stink bomb of horrible movies that ran right up until Collateral Damage. Some could even argue that T3 is included.

I kinda liked T3, I like all of them. But the 3 movies are all the same, story wise.


T1: A human-looking, apparently unstoppable cyborg is sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor; Kyle Reese is sent to stop it

T2: A shape-shifting cyborg is sent back from the future to kill John Connor before he can grow up to lead the resistance; a protector is sent, too.

T3: John Connor is now in his 20's, and a female terminator, called T-X or Terminatrix, is after him. Another T-101 is sent back through time to protect John once again on the verge of the rise of the machines.

I wonder what they'll do with 4...

It'd obviously be the future war...how they handle it is another matter.

I was always amused at the idiots who trashed T3 simply because it was a copy of T2, when T2's arguably a bigger copy of T1. Hell, half the scenes and sequences are lifted right from the T1 script.

All three movies are cool as hell though, so I don't care...the first is more of a thriller, the second a bit more interpersonal and slicker, while the third is just balls to the walls action in a chaotic time period. I hope they release that uncut T3 footage at some point. And I really can't wait for T4.

As for True Lies 2, unless Eliza Dushka's going to carry on the family tradition of spying with Arnie as the trainee, it seems like a waste of time after Mr and Mrs Smith. First movie rocked though.
