I have a problem with HQ touched up pics in general, and I've said this many times for other games too. The pics Krowley showed were probably HQ touched up screens released from the publisher and he compared them with real Kameo gameplay pics. And if the trailer is out why the hell don't you compare caps from it with other games?
i've just now been trying to find a screen capture utility to do just that, but i can't find one that will let me capture from a video file.
i'm sorry that the kameo screens kind of suck, but as i said in the post, i could not find any better screens on the kameo site, at least not quickly and i was in a hurry to post it... i think we all know that kameo looks better than that, especially now... but believe me, those pictures ARE how oblivion looks... i mean the angles are super nice, and the timing of the shots are sort of staged, but trust me that the game looks like that in the latest gameplay video. the forests are breathtaking, and those trees and grass? they sway with the wind... according to the devs, they even sway more when it's stormy to react to the weather. Every surface in the game is bumpy as hell and reacts realisticly to light. Several shots from places like IGN literally appear to be direct captures from this gameplay video.
It has some framerate and vsync problems, and the animations are not that impressive, but everything else about it is spot on and the video is from several months ago. the latest glimpse of it in a gamespot interview during x05 shows that the vsync issues appear to be resolved.
As a side note, it sort of sucks that when i click the screenshot link on the kameo website i am greeted with low quality screens like that, while on the oblivion site, all the screens look like the ones i posted. I had every intention of being fair with my comparison, but i have never went looking for kameo screens before, and i wanted to link to the official sites instead of leeching bandwidth from a news site.
