Truly the worst interview I've ever read.

I made the mistake of buying a wireless Mad Catz Xbox controller only because MS didn't make an official one. I think my dog buried it.

Yup. And this was a stupid interview that had no information and was like a Mad Catz commerical. What was the point? To show that they may attempt to make a cheap, crappy Revmote?

The questions were probably e-mailed in to MadCatz. After a few spins in the PR Drying Machine*, it got spat back out via e-mail and slapped up online under the guide of a legitimate "interview." E-mail interviews almost always sound like that kind of slop.

*PR Drying Machines: making quotes dry and unbelievable since the dawn of time!

to be fair, is there anyone who wants an entertaining sit-down interview with mad catz?

How many times did I just read MAD CATZ in that interview.

lol...Madcatz think they can improve the official design :lol I'll buy every product they make from now on if they can make just ONE controller (for any system) that isn't a complete fuck up of the the original design. Every Madcatz pad I've ever seen (and used) has been a complete and utter joke. From that interview it sounds like Nintendo actually work with Madcatz to make the 3rd party pads. Either that's very suprising or (more likely) is total crap as the Madcatz pads have nothing in common with official pads.

I thought there might have been some interesting info about how they replicated the innards of the official controller. I mean, we're still not sure *exactly* what it does yet, so I'd like to see how they planned to emulate it.

Heh, normally I'd agree. But they sold really cheap Dreamcast memory cards, AND I also use a Mad Catz brand component video switch (4 inputs, and it came with a free cable), the thing was so very, very cheap (like under $30 IIRC). They are much more expensive if you buy other brands.

Actually, the Mad Catz MicroCON for the Xbox was better than the fatty or the S because of the better d-pad and easier to reach black and white buttons. I've never liked anything else by Mad Catz though.

Clearly, this was an email interview. These canned and sanitized responses are just death as far as being interesting, informative or in any way entertaining.

A perfect example of why as a videogame journalist you always, always, always want to get someone on the phone and never, ever agree to an email interview.

Half the time email interviews are written by PR people anyway.

And PR people... anyone who is boring IRL will come off twice as boring in an email interview, and jesus, this guy must be super boring in RL, because that interview was a snooze fest. He had zero business answering those questions. You'd think the guy had had some media training once upon a time... but apparently, not.
