My guess is that he defaults back into a classic "Islam is a religion of peace. Terrorism is a vile corruption of this great faith" narrative.
Which is fine, I prefer the diplomacy of the government not unnecessarily antagonizing Islam, but he was elected specifically for the "refreshing" (to bigots) narrative that Islam = terrorism.

I really doubt it. You can clearly see he departed a lot from his original geopolitical stance of non-interventionism. I think he was playing the "anti-establishment card" while he was candidate and now he is entangled in the geopolitical game with dozen of advisors screaming in his ears all day long.
But maybe i will be surprised.
Let me tell you, Islam is important. Very, very important, and people have been telling me good things. People ask about Islam and I say "very important," because a lot of them, they're tremendous people. I've been hearing a lot about them. Good men and women. But you don't look at the women, you can't see them. But good women. And they need someone to speak for them because there are bad ones out there doing terrible things. Awful things, and people say "can we let them in" and I say "how do you know?" How do you know with Islam? And they want to make it a political issue, but you have the majority saying they want to be safe. The majority voted, it was the biggest Electoral College win. A tremendous win. But you can't get a good look at the women. So you don't let the laptops on the plane.
