TRUTHFACT: MS having eSRAM yield problems on Xbox One

but made no mention of the change?

He provides confirmations of things that are already being discussed if he is privy to insider information about the subject. He's not the one that whistleblows the info himself. But that doesn't mean he's privy to all policy changes ahead of time. Especially when this one seemed so sudden of a shift only a day after their PR was still defending their policies publicly. I mean who knows, this may have been an "emergency meeting" scenario over at MS.

Are some people really trying to discredit CBOAT? I get that he might not be 100 percent correct every time but his track record is ridiculously good and spans many years, even a far back as the pre 360 days. If he wasn't legit, he wouldn't even have a gaf account to post on.

Nevermind the fact that his post about the yield issues was backed up by another insider.

Let me just leave this here again.

Xbox will be more powerful than the PS4: False
Xbox will be cheaper: False
Xbox will have Dual APU: False
Xbox specs have been upgraded: False
Xbox wont come with Kinect: False
Xbox got secret sauce: False
Xbox won't use 3GB of RAm for OS: False
PS4 will have online DRM also: False
PS4 will be always online too: False
PS4 will only have 4GB Ram: False
PS4 will include the PS Eye: False
PS4 will be bigger than Xbox because of GDDR5: False

Yeah sure MS wouldn't do any of these...

I think you should keep a running tally both pro and negative MS/Sony items.

This is pretty simple.

A guy that has a track-record of being accurate says MS are having yield issues.
A company that has a track-record of lying at every chance they can says they aren't.

Now, which one should we believe? Hmm.

And those hailing him look like mad fanboys.

They're hailing him because he is an insider or has access to insider tidbits. How does that make anyone a fanboy? Those who simply choose to ignore his previous knowledge bombs and say "I'll believe company x before I listen to Cboat" in this case have the 'fanboy' edge. Wouldn't you say?

It may have indeed. Would interesting to be a fly on the wall on know how it panned out.

Cboat is stretching some stuff, at least when it comes to MS, nowadays. Considering everything is changing constantly, he is not as reliable.

considering how things seem to be 'switching' on the fly, no MS-centric insider is 100% reliable right now.

but, low Xbone having low yeilds isn't really something MS can change easily, so I'd say CBOAT's still on the money, there... especially after Phil Spencer's random denial on Twitter. LOL

well I'm certainly not an xb fanboy if that's what you mean but i just don't yet see the absolute accuracy people are assuming but I remain to be convinced of course.

Ok then list things which didn't happen like CBOAT said. And list things that happened.
You are looking at 96-98% ratio dude.

Either post something to prove your point or you know, stop spreading bullshit. CBOAT is confirmed legit insider who is practically always right and his track record is known for years.

Strange how people still question cboat. Somebody in another thread posted a list on everything he leaked before. Can't find it.

And to say "why didn't he leaked this and that?" like he is the shadow broker and knows everything is just silly. Furthermore he said he wouldn't post for a long while (to protect himself).
Even with yield issues MS will do fine, now that they removed their DRM.

.

It is not strange. It is either ignorance to facts or when you know facts simple bending reality to your own viewpoint because you don't agree with it.

I am not saying doubting someone is wrong. I am saying if you doubt someone which has proven track record you need to provide proof that he is not legit.

So far all CBOAT haters didn't provide anything worthwhile or they are stuck on PoP not being on E3 ignoring all other leaks which were 100% truthfact.

There's a world of difference between the 360's build quality and the PS3s.

Consoles die. I've lost a Genesis, Gamecube, 60GB PS3 and a 360 due to hardware failures.
But you'd have to be missing out on the world to think the PS3 failure rate even got CLOSE to approaching the Xbox 360's.

Basically, on your own experience, PS3 and 360 have a 1:1 failure ratio. In this forum, as in many others, same story all over again, but posters keep spreading the hate only against 360 build quality. Don't get me wrong, Xenon motherboard (launch 360) high failure rates is a truthfact, but this behaviour is funny. More when most retrocompatible PS3 died too.

RROD was due to poor engineering plus a rush for launch. Later revisions were better because they at least partly had more time to figure it out.

Just because Xbox slim doesn't have issues means nothing for Xbox one. If they rush again, and have yield issues, who knows?

Not exactly. Xenon motherboard was not intended to use lead free solder. Later revisions had this solder in mind.

Probably, they had a similar problem then than today. Xenos@500mhz at 90nm is an overclocked part. This lead free solder legislation just made this worse and exploded in their faces. They choosed the long run and won the performance battle, leading me to think they will not choose to downclock anything this time either.

a few neogaf members said ms has yield problems
apparently these are facts

I will tell you a secret. Every chip release have yields problems. You only have to check every new CPU/GPU release from AMD/ATI/Intel/Nvidia. Low yields success rate is part of the game, so we need more info. Are they over or under 30%? How far is Sony chip from this? It's pretty easy to write sensationalist titles when most people are not used to this subject.

How big the difference is? Half units? One year big?

I've seen people say GDDR ram runs hot and I've seen people say that it is actually a lower power , cooler chip...which is it?

Both CPU and GPU are low power designs, but sharing die in a beefed up setup (namely, lot of cores for each) increase TDP drastically. We can expect something over 70W TDP at launch depending on final clocks. GDDR5 is not that hot, as it runs naked, with any trace of even passive cooling, on most GPU designs. Regular air flow from main system cooling is enough to keep those RAM chips at operating temps.

Is it stretching when apparently everyone outside of Mattrick and Spencer are in the dark, while the two of them are making it up as they go along?

E3
"Always online, we will not back track!"

Just a few days later
"Will work just like X360, consumers have spoken!"

Yeah. I can't imagine what their engineering team is going through now. People act like they can just "flip the switch", but no one knows if they even built a "switch" in the first place.

Cboat also mentioned that MS had paid many devs to remove content from the show. PoP could have been one of them.

Why is this thread still here?

Is actual substantial discussion going on or is it just "it's not true" "yes it is" "no its not" yes it is" "no its not" over and over again?

It's turned into debate over CBOAT's credibility and validity as an insider. Probably isn't the first time.

PoP was Halo.

Nah I think it was just pulled from the conference. Ubisoft being daft probably. Hope we see it at Gamescom.

You do know that some surveys have actually been done on this right? And that some of us *gasp* have read said survey results?

Like this one right here for example.

16000 unit sample.
Wii failure rate 2.7%
PS3 failure rate 10%
Xbox 360 failure rate 23.7%

And this fantastic graph of their findings:
squaretrade_1_29779_screen.jpg

Which shows that more X360's died due to RRoD than all launch PS3 failures, and that even removing RRoD the X360 still failed at a higher rate than the PS3.

They have improved quality quite a bit on the back end, but the X360 was the single least reliable bit of consumer electronics to ever hit this industry for it's first couple years, and built up a lead that no other system could even hope to overcome.

Now Microsoft is having yield issues on their new system. I'd say people have reason to be concerned.

So Forza wont be sub 720p with a cinematic framerate after all?

No, it will be 1080p / 60fps. But they sacrificed full dynamic lighting to achieve this. They use prebaked lighting instead which means the time in a game won't change (it's for example always day), and there also aren't any weather effects.

Maybe an MS employee did see that the yields were terrible months ago, an ms employee who works in a septate department to APU testing design etc, but got this one off chance or only visit's the department a few times and what he saw was very troubling APU yields,

but you know what companies at Microsoft do?

They solve issues like these, what do you think all those MS engineers were doing in those development rooms with all those zebra xbox one's stacked up.

The only time we would ever hear about yield issues is AFTER the launch at a quarterly investors call IF they need to explain why Xbone sales were low for the previous quarter.

But they would only do that if yields were bad enough to really impact the initial shipment units and thus require an explanation to investors.

IOW, it looks amazing. Wouldn't expect anything less from the Forza team.

I still want to know how he knows. MS employee?
My guess is that he's someone, maybe a journalist, with sources on the inside.

What he posts is insider information that he either doesn't want too much exposure of (to protect said sources), or information that he couldn't 100% confirm between said sources. So he puts them on this message board instead of publishing them on whatever website he works for.
Whats titanfall?
A hot new PC title.

Yeah, and the 360 lost the company $3bn up front and another $1bn because of build quality issues.

I think they will do whatever is necessary to avoid any comparisons to when they launched the 360.

The DRM reversal came very, very late. Decision made by a few higher ups in a meeting just days before the policy change. CBoaT posted information that was up to date at the time, but hasn't posted since then.

He confirmed the game sharing stuff was 60 minute trials.

Man I wish it was coming out on one of the next systems, hopefully the PS4.

That game looks awesome

I see the same thing in every damn thread. The idea is that Sony is a nobler enterprise. Maybe it is I don't know but that sentiment is only based on perception.
This is not perception but 100% TRUTHFACT and it's not based on any sentiment or feelings, but based on VALUE and more consumer friendly policies.

1. PS3 had free online, 360 didn't
2. Even PS4 does not put apps like Netflix behind a paywall, MS does.
3. PS+ is incredible value, MS gaming values and store sales are pathetic.
4. You can install any 2.5" hdd on a PS3 and PS4. You can't with Xbox 360 or 180.
5. MS tried to take away all your consumer rights with games before they did a 180. Sony did not.
6. MS locked all accessories behind licensing with the 360, like controllers and steering wheels, where the PS3 supported many PC accessories and PS4 will too. Xbox 180 isn't looking like it'll be compatible with the expensive fanatec steering wheels people bought for their 360.
7. Sony allows bluetooth and USB headsets, while MS locked you into their proprietary and low quality stuff.
8. PS4 allows standard 3.5" headsets to be plugged into their controller. MS built their own proprietary interface.

Sorry, I care about value the most and MS has not been offering it in a long while. Every move they make SCREAMS greedy corporation and while Sony isn't a charity, they have been humbled and they've started listening to their consumers.

I have heard it will also be released on the Xbox One. Which makes sense, the game is using the source engine so it shouldn't be that demanding.

Yeah being on source would also bode well for PS4 releases of the game, later down the road.
