Jeuxfrance had an interview with Tsuyoshi Tanaka today in Paris.

Sorry if old.

- Devil May Cry for PSP will not be a remake but a new game in the serie.

- Tsuyoshi Tanaka has several projects for PSP.

- Tsuyoshi Tanaka won't be involved in Devil May Cry 4 if Capcom decides to produce the game because he has already done his best with Devil May Cry 3.

- There's a funny game in Devil May Cry 3 that consists of finding the level number hidden in each level.

- UK gamers said to Tsuyoshi Tanaka that Devil May Cry 3 was to hard for them ! :p

- Un french member of Capcom did the easy mode playable with only 2 buttons. Tanaka talks about French touch :p

- Graphists traveled a lot to Europe (Barcelone in Spain)

- More at jf.

I bet on Biohazard PSP since his experience with Outbreak.

Well at least DMC4 will be directed by Kamiya or Mikami :lol (could this mean that Capcom already knows how shitty is DMC3 and has already excluded him from future titles? :lol :lol )

Tanaka also worked on Monster Hunter. So could a Monster Hunter PSP be one of those other PSP games he's working on?

I would love to play a wireless Monster Hunter or PSO (wouldn't rule out DS as a possible platform for either)

dammit...Capcom and Sega: make it so

Alright, good read!! :D

DMC3 is gonna be awesome!!! Some nice facts, secrets and possible spoilers in the interview about the game. I'll translate some of them.

- Enemies' behavior will change according to the set difficulty level.
- Lifespan of the game is about 15 hours (that includes cinematics). - Imo long enough for a game like that, especially with the replayability.
- Contents of the game will not change wether you are in easy or hard difficult mode.

- Supposedly Dante gets to wield an electric guitar, like that dude in Gungrave: Overdose, which incites psychodelia. - I wonder what the effect will be :D

- There is a difficulty level that is even higher than the known 'Dante Must Die' mode. - :D

Wow yeah. He produced Outbreak too didn't he. The Outbreak format itself would be perfect for the PSP. Shorter "mission" based short stories covering smaller areas and different characters, and connected to a larger story. It would work for portable gaming as well as wifi multiplayer gaming. :D

That would be awesome...

...but then I recall the AWFUL loadtimes that plagued the PS2 version while also taking note of the somewhat lengthy loadtimes that are found in even the simplest of PSP games and start to worry. :P

Damn you!! I was going to mention something like "maybe they'll optimize the code for the PSP port to reduce load times" then I remembered that this is Capcom we're talking about here. >_<

Sooo...he will not be involved in the development of Devil May Cry for PSP, since he did his best in Devil May Cry 3? Or will DMC for PSP be different enough to bring him back for another game?

He will not be involved with DMC4. DMC PSP is not DMC4. :)

Yes, but he said that he won't be involved in DMC4 because he did his best with DMC3. That makes me think he did his best with the DMC concept (as in the gameplay and similar, I assume he's not talking about the story) as it is, thus he feels he can't make it any better.
So in that case, why would he go on and make a DMC game for PSP? My point is, is he indirectly saying it will be different enough for him to the point where it feels like a new kind of game, making it like a fresh start for him through a spin-off of sorts while still sticking with the DMC series?

Isn't he just a general producer? Or did he actually direct DMC3? If so he simply won't be directing DMC4. If he's still a producer on DMC3, then he's just talking shit as usual. :)

In point form it's hard to tell what he really means, since as a general producer he can be involved in a bunch of projects without actually having much to do with them.

Yeah OK...I just got this feeling DMC for PSP would be some kind of spin-off...according to Capcom traditions. Out of all the big Capcom series, DMC must be the only one that has yet to be spin-off'ed at all?! It hasn't even been milked properly! :P

i wonder what his other psp projects are.

who's making viewtiful joe psp? clover?
time to bring over onimusha, monster hunter & re capcom :D

Well, there's also Clock Tower, but really that's Sunsoft's IP. All Capcom's other big adventure series have at least one spinoff...

-Resident Evil Survivor (PS/PC)
-Resident Evil Survivor 2: Code: Veronica (Naomi/PS2)
-Resident Evil Gaiden (GBC)
-Resident Evil: Dead Aim (PS2)
-Resident Evil Outbreak (PS2)
-Resident Evil Outbreak: File #2 (PS2)

-Onimusha Tactics (GBA)
-Onimusha: Blade Warriors (PS2)

-Dino Stalker (PS2)

Yeah, and isn't DMC the most successful console game for Capcom this gen? It's very peculiar...not even a handheld platformer, not even a fighting game or a spin-off featuring a different main character and story. Hell, they even turned Onimusha into a strategy game, so I reckon anything's possible. Will be interesting to see how DMC for PSP turns out.

Yep, it's all a bit strange considering how badly Capcom's handled the franchise. You'd think DMC2 would've been given more attention, we'd have seen some GC/Xbox/PC ports and there'd be at least one GBA/mobile spinoff by now. :/

I don't think it's fair how everyone is ignoring Capcom's fine DMC entry into the cellphone gaming market in Japan. Dead Shot is an excellent game that upholds the fine traditions of DMC's graphics, sound and gameplay! :lol :lol :lol :lol

Panda Onimusha

Holy shit, where have you been all my life? I think you've just helped me find the game of my dreams. :D

Now I just need a Panda Biohazard and Panda Dino Crisis (to clean up the shit in my mouth that Dino Crisis 3 left).

I'd complain, but since PSP is getting a new DMC game as opposed to a port, it sounds alright. Let's just hope it take full advantage of what PSP is instead of trying to emulate the console games too much.

Ok then here are more. Some of them don't look as bad actually and they MIGHT be fun, but some are also newer! :D

I am absolutely loving those screens. They remind me of Sega Master System games, like The Ninja!

I still have to find out how to use the Panda statue in the Zoo of Onimusha 3. BTW, those are excellent news.
Can't wait to play stylish crazy action on my PSP !!!

I find it interesting that nobody here mentioned that the interview says DMC for PSP will have "new type of play" that will "supplement the series."

Does this mean like an off-shoot of the series like RE Outbreak?
