Saw this on one of those 'Funny Tumblr posts' pages and had to investigate.

WTF is going on? Not only do they just talk about shoplifitng but they actually try to justify it. Like they are rebelling against capitalism or some shit. Shoplifting is one thing, but trying to make yourselves the good guys? YIKES.

I don't actually have a Tumblr. But this doesn't appear to be a joke. Is casual shoplifting a hobby any of you Gaffers have?
 
Tumblr is like 4chan with none of their self awareness. Perfect echochamber for crazies who think they're heroes. I believe it. Just move on and pretend you never saw it, life is happier that way.
 
Yeah, they're disgusting, and they're serious, there was a period where people started reporting them and they got seriously mad and whinny about it.
 
Where did all of these various communities of shitheads go before Tumblr? What about Tumblr makes it so attractive to these awful people?
 
ANything that can give people a rush, they'll a community for it.

I dated a woman who grew up wealthy and earned almost six figures. She kept shoplifting and hiding that fact from people until she was finally caught when she was 26 or 27 (I forget). Her excuse was that it was like an addiction, the rush. Everything from planning it, pulling up in the parking lot, etc, until the eventual release once she got home and laid everything she had stolen out.
 
Tumblr is honestly, somehow, a worse version of 4chan

I have never ever seen anything good come out of that site.

Because people can follow those who agree with them and block everyone else, they form these insane communities where they feed off each others madness

I wonder how many of these people end up getting caught/arrested, after posting and gloating about this online. I would hope all of them do.
 
Tumblr is a site where anyone can make a blog and post to it. What you see there is what you follow, or what you are linked to. It is not a hivemind, or a singular culture. If you only follow artists blogs on Tumblr, then to you Tumblr is an art site with a ton of art. If you go looking for garbage on any site and fixate only on that, then any site is nothing but garbage.

I don't get why this is still weird to people, it's like, how does the internet work.

1.-Everywhere in the net.
2.-The incredibly simple usage, the instant gratification, the reach your posts easily get and no effort required to produce content, tumblr has little means for people to be invested enough to actually interactnegatively, so most people get nothing but positive reinforcement, unless you fuck up big time or you're popular enough to be a worthy target, chances are you're only going to get validation for tumblr, regardless of what you are.
 
So these are the jerks that take, like, one marker from a package? I've never understood those kind of thefts; they seem so pointless and petty.

But so long as they're not stealing meat I think I can restrain my disdain. Stealing meat crosses some kind of unspoken barrier.
 
I'm sorry Tumblr weirdos that goods cost money and your dumbass self can't get a job and mom stopped lending you her credit card. Capitalism sure does suck :'(
 
Won't they just be a bunch of 14 year old girls? I thought that was what tumblr was about.

That's what kids do, they pinch tapes and pick n mix from Woolies.

tumblr has nothing to do with it; if the site didn't exist, these people would find another platform to spew their shit on. Tumblr itself has nothing to do with the mass amounts of shit heads that inhabit the site.
