TV distortion with white images

I'm getting a problem with my five-year-old PAL Sony Trinitron 21" 4:3 KV-21T1... when I view pictures with very high contrast, like anything in Ikaruga, the image is distorted. The more white there is in a horizontal line, the more it is distorted to the right, as if white pixels took up more space or something.

I've had this problem with a small (fairly new) 14" TV as well, but I haven't noticed it on my regular set before, even though I've played Ikaruga a lot on it earlier.

Any ideas what it can be? Bad aging? I am planning to replace it soon with a slightly bigger HDTV, but it'd be nice to actually be able to use this a bit longer without fearing that it'll blow up or something.

I've also started to hear a faint but high-pitched noise from it now and then. And there's a problem with sound distortion when using a SCART input, but that has been there for ages and I mostly use my stereo set for sound anyway.
