TV WoW - Xbox version screenshots!

Actually its just my 9800 pro fed into my 27 inch samsung via s-video. Pretty nice setup actually, might rethink things a bit. I mean, wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, wireless network. Why not.

Hah, that's how I play it, TV+wireless mania. Although, I don't have a fancy TV, so the forced/scrunched 800x600 can be a pain when it comes to the tiny text, other than the nicely adjustable chat and combat boxes. Oh well, no biggie.

Wall scrolls = 15 pts each x 2 = 30 points
Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVD set = 20 points
Ridiculously large video switching box = 15 points
Chibi Ken figurine = 30 points
Bundled up clothing on top of television set = 10 points
PC game run through TV-out = 15 points

TOTAL = 120 Geek points out of possible 200 score

Suggestions for score improvement:

Use component video for HD resolutions and progressive scan
Place half-eaten bag of Funyons on TV set
Randomly place Magic/Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh cards on the floor and entertainment center
Put Dreamcast system under television
On wall, frame and mount fan art depicting you married to Nintendo character (+30 pts), SNK characer (+40 points), or anime character (+50 pts)

Looked like a scrunched up shirt to me or something...

-15 points

+5-15 points depending on type of newspaper (highest score for Seattle or San Francisco indie papers, lowest score for USA Today)

What is the weird CD player thing plugged into the wall in the lower left?

Seattle Times, some guy came by and hypnotized me into trying it out, then they started billing me. Not getting money from me, and I refuse to read it.

Cd thing is my alarm clock, never listen to cds on it since the speakers are really ,...well its a clock radio.

+8 for Seattle Times

If this entire setup is actually housed in your bedroom (where you would need an alarm clock), then +10 (or +30 for if you have a super-ghetto "mattress on the floor" setup)..

If it's actually in your living room and you just go to sleep in there after long gaming sessions, +10 points for sleeping on sofa, +20 if you sleep on futon.

Well, except for the fact that there really is no theoretical maximum score and I just make up shit as it comes to me ;)

using a wireless kb and mouse is a pain in the ass, i know i have tried, especially when sprawled out on couch.

i recently made a thread here about mapping mouse movement on a Xbox gamepad. i got a good reply and it pointed me in the right direction.

i now use XBCD and ControlMK. i can map WSAD (or whatever to the left analogue stick) and very adjustable mouse movement to the right stick. but of course you can map whatever you want to the buttons and sticks.

i key my wireless kb next to me if i need to input some txt or similar.

playing HL2 on a pad, and displayed through my projector whilst laying on the couch is quite nice. i would advise you all try it.

you can get the adaptor for approx US$10 at lik-sang.

I was planning to do the same to play with my girlfriend (got 2 PCs but only one screen). Is there no problem to read the quest log and all the texts ?

Band-aid!

Would it be that difficult for Blizzard to make an Xbox version?

It would have the same problem as porting FFXI onto the XBOX, storage space. You need 4+ gigs of hard drive space to install the game to.

Wow, I never thought of this. I could map the mouse and keys on a PS2 pad with Joy2Key and play Wow with my wireless keyboard on TV laying on the couch.

Although it's obvious it won't look this good on my TV :P

how would you map the keys to a gamepad?

...

right mouse hold and move = right analog

tank controls on left analog??

Hmm... no. I couldn't see this happening.. UNLESS... you redid the entire interface for gamepad play... which I could see somewhat feasible given the programmable adjustable interface.

I play on a 100" projected image while lounging on my well worn leather couch with a wireless keyboard/mouse. The only problem is batteries. God, how I hate batteries.

Not to mention they'd likely have to make more servers to accomodate the voice-chat players because having them share servers would make things hell. Not that they could share servers anyway and MS is very anti-keyboard for Xbox Live. WoW doesn't look like it was built with multiplatform in mind, FFXI was built with PC/PS2 play in mind.

Oups, sorry. By mentionning pad, I meant the analog sticks.

I can't imagine being able to dual/fight so well on a gamepad. I use a lot of different spells/strategies when facing other players (as well as mobs) and I just cannot fathom an easy way for me to be able to dual/fight properly on a pad.

A keyboard (or keyboard LIKE) controller that came with the game would make an Xbox port much more feasible and understandle IMO.

(Wouldn't be a stretch either considering how FFXI came packaged with a HD... you know?)
