They basically accepted the crazy and went with it after the cast change over is the reason, at least IMO. Before the cast change, you got some really meh story stuff for the chars that wasn't really going anywhere. That whole vision quest for Tommy was really bad even though it was great seeing JDF and his brother on screen together.

Yeah looking at it now and I'm actually surprised a bit by the padding they've been doing with the bumpers. Season is only around 15 hours but started at 12:30 this afternoon thereabouts but it's managed to pad out into early morning instead of fuck you o'clock.
