Man, the patchwork footage is so bad now. Enemy on a giant rocky cliff attacks the power rangers and you see them get hit in the middle of a park with trees behind them.

I wonder what a map of Angel Grove would look like if you tried to try it based off footage in the show.

What do they actually do themselves? The putty fights and Goldar?

Putty fights and Goldar, Lord Zedd footage, and daily scenes are the US stuff. The monsters and Zords are JP footage but even the Zord fights were patchwork for a few episodes earlier in season 2.

Rewatching these season 2 episodes, it's pretty obvious they messed up Rocky's character really badly. I don't think his actor had the charisma to be a Red Ranger anyway, but Adam and Aisha have had pretty consistent characterization through a few episodes (Adam's confidence issues, Aisha's attempts to be helpful, too helpful once to the point of getting in others' ways in the episode where they wanted to highlight a flaw for her). Aisha is basically a Trini clone, but it's still better than being nothing. The only story where Rocky received any focus as a character at this point was about him being out of character due to a spell.

It's clear they wanted people to get used to the new cast considering how long it has been since the old trio got stories focused on them, but in spite of that they really failed to establish any character for Rocky. They might as well have kept stock footage Jason with his over the top voice. That's still more character than Rocky at this point.

Yep, out of the new 3 Rocky seemed to get the shaft on character development. Maybe the writers knew they actually couldn't replace Jason's presence on the show so they didn't bother.

It's weird to watch the show increase in quality. The pacing, photography and editing is way better than the first season. The writing obviously stays the same

What's more amazing? Writing around not having a lot of Green Ranger footage or writing around bad guys who don't even appear on scree against the Rangers?
Edit:.. Or editing?
