Pokemon is probably the best possible game for this sort of experiment, really- there's no timing or reaction involved, relatively little penalty for death, and very few places that require any sort of precision control. And there's a leveling system, too, so there's benefit to the aimless wandering that inevitably happens (the whole reason why they've gotten so far is because they have an overleveled pokemon from grinding random encounters.)
