Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 3: Return of Red... Aussies win again!

How many viewers was twitch at when they finished Gary?

90,000+. This wasn't exactly the optimal time for viewers though. In fact, id say it was the absolute worst hour for attracting the most amount of viewers it could have had. If it happened 5 or 6 hours earlier I'd imagine the stream would have been at easily 120,000 or more ( when we got to Gary the first time the stream was at 113,000)

um you uh might want to edit that image in particular take out the slurs? i don't particularly enjoy seeing them pasted everywhere, thanks

either way i'm excited to see them play generation 2. i'm nuzlocking soul silver right now so it'll be a nice fit
Just edit your post now and we'll be good.
Also, your username is cool. I just started playing it.
Actually, it's ironic you didn't in the first place since it offends you.
Username is still cool though.

So I just finished watching the Elite 4 battles and the battle with Blue. Holy fuck. So many clutch moments. Whole team pulling together. So fucking awesome!! And the little speech that Oak gave after reprimanding Blue for sucking was just... phenomenal.

For one player, it comes off hollow and superficial, but for tens of thousands of people playing as one person, the message of like "don't forget, it was the bonds you formed with your team!" and "it is they who brought you here!" never rang more true.

5x emulator speed makes it just as hard to get past ledges btw.

Went to mt moon to catch a paras then went through the tunnel.

I ain't even mad. I just knew it when I went to bed that I would wake up to the ending screen.

Can you guys link me to a video of the whole final run (elite four+blue)? Can't find it and at least I don't want to be spoiled on what exactly happened.

I feel like such an idiot :(
I've been watching this since the second gym, when the first OT was made. Got up this morning and checked, saw that they were still in the E4, and apparently had been for hours. 'It's fine,' says I. 'I'll just go for a quick run,' says I.

Go for a run and come back. I WAS STILL IN TIME! But I decided to catch up on the thread, and was READING THE PAGES I'D MISSED last night as it happened. Never felt so foolish in all my life. All I had to do was open the goddamn stream and I would have seen that it was 'happening'.

Moron of the year: me.

Oh well. Anyone else feel like their opinions on the main 6 pokemon have been changed forever? I'll never be able to see Venomoth, Omastar or Pidgeot in the same light ever again. I always loved Pidgeot, but now I know he's a beast.

Also, what was the crucial moment, other than democracy being instated? (I was there for that, still wish in a way that it hadn't happened.) For me it has to be catching Zapdos. This thing takes another week at least without him. People shouldn't forget how fucking crazy it was to go after him, and how ridiculously lucky it was that he was caught. That was the winning moment right there.

I mean, we could easily have gone to a PC and released Jesus and Zapdos at any stage, and that would have been basically it for a month. Thing would have died.

It really is a stunning victory. Congrats all!

The stream was reported by every major news company, they must have been aware of it.
Just think of it this way. Someone at Nintendo with the power to shut this down had to have known. And it never got taken down. That in it's self is either a miracle, or the first tangible evidence of The New Nintendo at work.

Nintendo has always been cool with major efforts. I remember during the Mother 3 translation the team factually knew that NoJ knew about it, but they never got hit with anything. Fortunately for fans, Nintendo never seems too hellbent on hurting big fan events.

Wait, what? This is every developer or publisher's dreams come true in terms of marketing. There's no way they'd have touched this, c'mon.

Oh for fucks sake. I can sleep for 8 hours while they fail at the Elite Four but I go to work for an hour and they finish it? Is there a Youtube video with the Elite Four and the chat?

I like that Zapdos is first, as he carried the team through the end-game. But Bird Jesus is last, because he carried the stream from the start. Last one up gets to raise the trophy, and Bird Jesus deserves it.

Pidgi is the reason we won technically. His final sacrifice of sands gave AA the room to not worry about blizzard.

Maybe Venomoth. Pidgeot always carried me in games so he's been good to me for a while.

Bird Jesus used his final moments on this earth to save us, a fitting end for the messiah. He truly died for our sins. :(

Best moments? I'll throw out 4:

The hilarity of the original ledge
Pidgeot vs Giovanni's Rhyhorn
Venomoth vs Lance's Dragonite
Anarchy vs Zapdos
