Family members are in shock after a murder suicide in Fresno Thursday night. Two men are dead following a fight between neighbors over a dog.

Franko's In Full Bloom flower shop in northwest Fresno is closed. It comes as after the death of the owner, 59-year-old Franko Cardoza. Police says he was shot by 74-year-old Dan Anderson.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says, "This situation has left two widows behind. Two widows live next to each other."

Dyer says for years Cardoza and Anderson argued about theirs dogs. On Thursday night that argument escalated. Police says it happened after Anderson's dog Buddy walked into the Cardoza's back yard.

Investigators say Anderson saw Cardoza kick the dog and that's when police say Anderson started banging on their front door with a gun.

Cardoza's wife called 9-1-1 and the entire thing was caught on tape.
Dyer says, "She was extremely hysterical while she was on the phone the call to 9-1-1 dispatch. A few moments later she yelled, he just shot my husband!"

Police say Anderson fired at least 8 shots. Cardoza was hit seven times and the last three bullets hit him in the back of the head.

Chuck Weaver says, "This doesn't happen. This is like the old west. I'm shocked."

Chuck weaver has known Cardoza for 15 years. He says he was great guy and a beautiful florist. "He and his wife are wonderful people and it's a total shock. That this was to happen and the reason it happened."

No one may ever know why Anderson open fire. Police say he shot himself in the parking lot of the Macaroni Grill when officers approached his car. Before he took his life, police say Anderson left a two messages for his wife saying he was sorry and he loved her.

This is on the local news. Happened about a couple of miles from my apartment on my street. Old man flipped his lid. What a crazy story.

Yeah, I hope you eat a permaban for that.

This was a completely senseless murder. He didn't even have to shoot the guy to get him to leave the dog alone. It's probably not a good idea for a hothead to own a firearm.

This was not a good post.

The really weird part is after the murder, the old man drove to the local Chevy's and tried to order a drink from the bar. They refused to serve him because he was covered in blood.

Well considering he killed himself I would guess that he was prolly losing his mind at that point and was trying to be another person blending in with a drink. Only problem was he had the murder all over him.

God help us.

Both guys were in error. It's a sad situation all around.

Lol.

By the way, are you the one I was arguing with about brakes being cut and having to either run over children or baby ducks?

If so I think we should agree to a truce, given the current predicament.

To sum up the next few weeks of comments:

The right answer: Both were wrong.

Well there's degrees of wrong.

Such as murdering someone by shooting them 7 times for kicking your dog is like 1 trillion degrees more wrong than kicking another person's dog.

I think he actually went to the sports grill.

And this is another example of why guns should be better controlled.

"bu bu but he could have killed someone with a knife!"

Let me see, which would you prefer, a 74 year old going after you with a knife or with a gun?

News said Chevy's. That's a lot closer than the World Sports Cafe. His car was parked in front of Macaroni Grill.

As much as I think Cardoza publishes horrible books, that was a bit much.

Every time I see a Junior with a shorter lifespan than me, I laugh.
Edit: Time to backpedal, almost double the posts and he's been here for much longer!

This whole situation was fucking stupid, and it's sad that two people had to die because of it.

Cat Defense Force here hoping to add a tickmark for cats, but humans > pets any day. Stupid and hideous all around.

your joke is dumb and tired. can dog-GAF give it a rest? it's damn obvious the old man hated these people and was just looking for pretext to get violent, the dog was the last straw.

Yeah I know, although girl at work said he tried to sit at the bar at sports cafe but was asked to leave. Says she was told this by a friend thats a waiter there.

Its possible that they called the cops because he had blood on him, hence why the cops arrived so quickly when he was at chevys.

Could be 100% bs though.

Reread what you posted.

Are people taking the murderer's story at face value, that he, a 74 year old man saw his dog get kicked, at night time?

How the victim could possibly be in the wrong here is beyond me.

I agree with you, but good luck dealing with the shitstorm for having a valid opinion.

It's a fucking dog. I love my pets but under no circumstance would I inflict bodily harm on someone over it. They could disembowel my cat and crucify my dog on my lawn. It still wouldn't happen.

If you're really that upset over it go kill his dog, or idk, this is just a throught but seek legal action? Call the cops? File a report? etc etc etc

"Go kill his dog," yeah, makes it all better.

I don't even put the attachment side of the animal at stake. It's the disingenuous nature of people being careless in this world and if a person is on the verge of snapping, things like this can and will happen. Maybe not so often as severe, but violence is sure to happen in cases like this.
