Val Kilmer dead at 65

I've been a fan of his ever since i first saw him and Top Secret and Real Genius shortly after that.

He was so good at comedy i wish he would have done more of em.

May he Rest In Peace

The best of the best. Legend. So many great movies with him. And damn he was so handsome and charismatic. I loved that so much about him, when i was a kid. ❤️😭🥺

Just saw this now. I know a lot of GAF were big fans, I never was but he was a talent worth remembering for sure. Wasn't he in Top Gun Maverick? Honestly was happy for him he shown up in that.

One of those actors you knew on a whim what you remember them by.

I knew this when i saw Top Gun: Maverick. That scene alone made it all stood out.

One of cinema's greats.

This one hurts bad... Been a favorite of mine since real genius and willow, grew up watching Willow since it released as it was one of my favorites that I watched in the theaters... Watched it millions of times and to me Madmartigan was one of the greatest characters ever, loved Iceman etc... Just devastating to lose Val

The Val documentary from a few years back is really good. He had a super8 camera or something waaaay back in the day so there are a lot of clips from before he hit it big and its SHOCKING how many other great actors (even if they weren't great people) came up with him. Something was definitely in the water around that time. I think it is on amazon and its well worth a watch.

It's weird watching these guys who were absolute physical specimens get old and die.

I find myself looking at my father who's in his mid 70s now... and thinking "Wow.. you outlived George Foreman! Who would have thought that when you were a pudgy 30 year old."

Recently a co-worker developed blood clots after a routine surgery. Died suddenly. He was in excellent shape.. ran marathons. He was a few years older than me and a really nice guy with a beautiful family.

Was just thinking this. Val was almost my parents' age but he seemed much younger. So many of these actors born in the late 1950s to mid 1960s are now getting visibly old and its depressing. Most of them looked like their prime selves well into the early 2010s but aging really accelerates in your 50s and 60s.

If you really want a trip, watch an Oscars ceremony from the early 00s. The household name actors who are still working today look like babies in comparison to now.

For as much as I dislike Tombstone, I'd still watch it just for him. Probably my favorite performance of his from a long list of wonderful performances. Rest in Peace.

Tombstone is a masterpiece. Powers Boothe, Bill Paxton, Sam Elliott, Kurt Russell, Michael Biehn, Val Kilmer, Billy Bob Thornton, great actors and great performances.
It certainly isn't "gritty" or realistic, it was a Hollywoodization of Earp and the OK Corral and it was perfect for what it was.

It has a wonderful cast. I loved it as a kid. I just don't care for it much anymore. It really want to re-watch Wyatt Earp now as I hated that movie and am wondering if the inverse will be true.

Wyatt Earp wasn't bad, Quaid delivered a pretty decent take on Doc as well. I've never liked Costner though, he's a wooden plank in everything.

Oddly enough, love plot aside, Open Range is one of my favorite westerns. I'm not much of a Costner fan otherwise.

RIP.

One of the best bank robbery scenes ever, led by Val and Bobby D. Get sum.

Val was praised by gun experts with how he handled the shootouts in this movie. Even down to his realistic tactical reloads. Man looking at these old clips makes me realize that most actors today don't come close to the range Val had in the 90's.
