This is dedicated to all those who voted for the oil cronies known as the Bush admin. and to all those who were able to but didn't vote:

LOS ANGELES - Gas prices jumped nearly 13 cents in the past two weeks, reaching record levels as retail prices began to catch up with soaring crude oil prices, an industry analyst said Sunday.

Prices should continue to rise in the weeks ahead on strong demand and supply problems caused by the transition to cleaner-burning gasoline mixtures as summer approaches, said Trilby Lundberg, who publishes the semimonthly Lundberg Survey of 7,000 gas stations across the country.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries agreed last week to boost its output quota by 500,000 barrels a day, or 1.9 percent. But since members are already producing above their quotas, no extra supply will actually be added, analysts said.

OPEC (news - web sites)'s next meeting is June 7.

I appreciate Honda moving towards making their normal cars hybrids. The Civic hybrid looks like a Civic; the Accord hybrid looks like an Accord. I think that's going to be the primary way to get these things into the mainstream auto market. Just have the hybrid engine be part of the car, not an extra entity that's tacked on. It's like that now, of course, but I can't imagine it being that way forever.

I'm so glad my civic averages 34-35 mpg. It's nice only having to pay 20 dollars to fill my car instead of 50.

Still got nothing on 1981 after adjusting for inflation. If it gets to above $3 it'll become a major issue in the next congressional elections.

Be glad you don't live in Hawaii. The average gas price there is now $2.42 a gallon.

It's disgusting, but you know what? People will still buy the gas because there's no real alternative. Where's the fucking hydrogen fueled cars? What about Solar Power? etc. etc.

I personally take public transport to work and once it gets warmer, I will start biking it. It's one of the benefits of living in a major city.

The thing with hydrogen is that it takes a lot of energy to seperate H from H20 or whatever substance they use, so in reality your using oil to create hydrogen due to the powerplants mostly running on oil. It really doesn't solve anything. It is possible that they will make an easier way to get hydrogen or maybe they're invent fission plants or something. Until then hydrogen isn't really a viable option.
