WOOT! UBISOFT'S 1st ENTRY INTO........
BASKETBALL.

We patiently watched as others rennovated their b-ball games year to year. We saw an opportunity to bring gamers something they've never experienced with b-ball - and the features will prove it. (Features to be announced shortly).

This was announced today.

UBISOFT TEAMS UP WITH AND 1 TO BRING GAMERS THEIR OWN MIX TAPE TOUR

Adds Second Sports License to its Roster

SAN FRANCISCO – March 16, 2005 – Today, Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest videogame publishers, announced that it has signed an exclusive licensing agreement to make videogames with AND 1, the performance basketball footwear and apparel company best known for its Mix Tape® Tour property and its more than 100 endorsers in the NBA. Ubisoft’s agreement with AND 1 is the second sports license deal inked since the announcement of the company’s entrance into the sports videogame market. Ubisoft recently announced an exclusive licensing deal with one of the world’s premier golfers, Vijay Singh.

Every summer AND 1 hosts the AND 1 Mix Tape Tour, which raises the bar for the brashest and most innovative playground moves ever invented. This summer-long roadshow pits the best players each city has to offer against the AND 1 playground legends such as The Professor, Spyda, Half Man-Half Amazing, AO, Sik wit It, Main Event and others. Held in more than 50 cities around the world each year, the AND 1 streetball events are featured on the ESPN television network series: “Street Ball: The AND 1 Mix Tape Tour presented by Mountain Dew.”

“We are excited to be collaborating with Ubisoft to make a game inspired by the AND 1 Mix Tape Tour,” said Ron Skotarczak, vice president of marketing and entertainment at AND 1. “We are looking forward to working together to create a franchise that captures the spirit of what the AND 1 brand represents – authenticity, attitude and performance.”

“Ubisoft is thrilled to be adding the AND 1 license to its line-up of sports videogames,” said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America. “The strength of the AND 1 brand and the creativity Ubisoft brings to the table make this agreement exciting news for the sports genre.”

Wow an And 1 game.

I'm sure this will go over well with the street dawgs.

I wouldn't necessarily call this an entry into basketball. And 1 is about style over substance.

*random joke about Darien loving EA*

Thanks for the opinion police setting me straight. And here I was enjoying Street Hoops, but know I know it's crappy I better trade it in.

You seem to be a bit confused. Where did I ever say that you couldn't like the game? Don't remember saying, and I'd never tell someone that because I love a whole bunch of games that people consider to be crappy. Doesn't change the fact that Street Hoops is... not a great title... let me count the ways:

Whoops first let me point out that yup Street Hoops is an And 1 styled game.

Ok back to the game:

Questionable AI, on offense, defense and when rebounding and the opponent AI.
Control system a bit on the unintuitive side.
Blocking shots is a hit or miss affair that has nothing to do with physics.

Of course these problems go away when you play the game with friends....

BTW you know when TeamXbox doesn't like a game it REALLY has to be crap.

Street Hoops might have been acceptable, if NBA Street wasn't around.

We all talk about how certain sites might lower a score and be bias, but another site might raise it.... check the scores consistently low across the board, that probably means something... and yes I have played Street Hoops... because the first Street didn't come to the Xbox and I needed an arcade style bball fix...

IT's funny cause when I use to work in Gamestop one of the Xbox demos was Street Hoops... mad kids use to come in and play it... it actually sold well at the store too.... market to the right crowd and you can sell anything... hell Enter the Matrix showed us that... again.

I'm not arguing that Street Hoops is an awesome game, its got it's flaws. But it's hardly "crappy". The dunk animations are still excellent to this day, it looks great in 720p and as you've mentioned it's a much better game in multiplayer.

BTW you know when TeamXbox doesn't like a game it REALLY has to be crap.

So now TeamXbox's opinion matters? :)

If these could be considered basketball games, then so can Ubisoft's.
