Ubisoft is outsourcing the writing for Beyond Good & Evil 2

So what? If you ask people what Ubi game has good writing in an unrelated thread folks will probably say they all suck or mention some ancient title as having been good, so this may as well be an improvement, it's nothing to judge at this point (other than her confirming it's not yet canned, lol).
Oohh I forgot where this scene was from?
Princess Mononoke.

For Ubisoft this isn't necessarily bad. Videogame writing in the AAA space doesn't get much worse than Ubisoft crap.

Information comes from Headwriter who got fired:

I remember picking up the game on GameCube sometime around 2004 for cheap and playing it. It was fun but I couldn't understand why it had this cult following and why some critics were obsessed with it.
I hope UBI didn't gun for a sequel because of forum users begging for it. They should know better since the first game didn't sell well.

I don't understand this game, it's not like it's going to sell GTA6 levels if it ever releases. The first wasn't such a massive hit that it warranted a sequel that spends 20 years in development.

gonna cry tobey maguire GIF
for Ubi? (all they had shown looked nothing like the original and may as well be a new IP anyway so fans of that is not why they brought it back, even if they ever claim so)

This game is dead on arrival and a contender for the "Vaporware" title owned actually, in my opinion, by Duke Nukem Forever.

They've been doing this shit for BG&E2 since 2019.

Honestly, BG&E2 has been worked on in some form or another since at least 2008. It's time to just pack it in. Like Ubisoft, either put up or shut up. Tired of hearing about this game that has never even come close to materializing.

ok but.....most of the industry outsources writing sooooooooo

The majority of the industry is contracted. Thats like saying a publisher is outsourcing voice acting or something like, where they suppose to own these people or? lol

If anything, actually look at writers Linkedin pages

https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnrgonzalez/?originalSubdomain=es

Notice he list that he was working at GG from 2016-2020 (keep in mind, we clearly know for a fact that he was working on it in 2013, but likely in a contracted role)

Clearly the sequel came out in 2022, its DLC in 2023 and he wrote them.

So he is working on other projects, it would be like saying "derrrr Sony is outsourcing the writing" I mean....how many writers in the industry only work for 1 company for life or something weird like that lol
