Ubisoft is Shutting Down XDefiant (the game will remain playable until June 3rd, 2025)

Dont worry.

One of their studios will keep the franchise alive.... Tom Clancy's Just Dance 2025, followed by Tom Clancy's Roller Champions 2026.

COD didnt even kill XDefiant. They killed both XDefiants. lol

The game sucked. It basically did nothing as good as modern COD and most things a lot worse. Heck, it is a lot worse than the old Xbox 360/PS3 era CODs. So this is deserved.

I am shocked that a game called "XDefiant" was not successful.
Almost as shocked that Concord and Hyenas and Suicide Squad were not successful.
And I will be again shocked when "FairGame$" is not successful.
So many shocking developments in this industry.

..all these braindead corporates deserve to go the way of the dodo

Meanwhile, gamers: "Hey Ubi, can we have new Splinter Cell?"

Ubi: "no, try this GaaS"

<gaas shuts down>

I guessed it would be shut down by Thanksgiving. They had to hold onto it for an extra week just to prove me wrong.

So this tweet turned out to be 100% true then. There where zero plans to shut down XDefiant after Season 4. Because their shutting it down after Season 3.

No surprise here. I have to say I didn't think it was too bad. But I've always wondered who should buy skins for these strange characters. Or who would even want these extremely ugly BP skins and colors. I wouldn't even want the PB skins for free. Let alone spend money on them.

While I feel sad for any member of staff that lost their job. I think in the end this will be a good thing and Ubisoft get back to making big-budget AAA games and ditch the mobile and F2P pile of crap for their big games.

I don't understand - if you do something and it's not working, shouldn't you try doing something differently? Ok, so they launched a turd, but they could have corrected the course no? Is Ubisoft a Titanic?

Go back to single player games Ubisoft.
You can still sell them years after release without the need of servers supporting them and make some money out of them.

Most of the DEI stuff will be shutdown next year, so no surprises here.
they are trying to go even deeper. i think DEI is here to stay, but the only places where it can DIE is in places where the outcome is the product (like movies and videogames)

This game is a relic from a time when they thought we would slop down anything they made just because they made it.

I don't think DEI is here to stay. This mentality cost a loads of money. Already proved that can be very dangerous (if you ever read the plane DEI scandal).

DEI maybe can survive, but only if they change the name. Is already very unpopular in the consumer side. People are getting very alware about the acronym.

they are already trying to change acronyms and the way they speak about it, but you are right that is not working (and they know it); this is why they are saying that companies need to do more (to actually do the job, not just check boxes) that companies need to embody DEI in their DNA.
supposedly, DEI has been a thing (one way or another) since the 70s. so, it's not going away. But videogames show the dangers of putting DEI hires in position of power in a more public facing way.

I hope this puts to rest the idea that players only thrive if the game lacks SBMM. This game was the worst sweatfest I have played in years and as a Mediocre player who loves playing multiplayer games I hated it. It was probably fun for the elite but everybody else said F this and left.

Unfortunately the usual crowd will say because of netcode and the developer its failure proves nothing at all. To them I say show me the massive live service PvP games that thrives without SBMM.

I enjoyed it 🤷‍♂️

Can't stand modern cod spaz movements, xdefiant was a bit more old cod like.

Was it really tho with the bootysliding, excessive jumpshotting and special powers? Being able to move mid air is crazy.
The game did not remind me of older CODs other than having no SBMM.

Probably not like old cods going back to ps3/360 era but more ps4 era.

I feel like the ps4 era cods the early ones atleast like blops 3 had a good balance, the current cods are just unplayable with the crazy movements.

Ah, must be my age speaking. Agreed on BO3, which was fun and managable yeah.

If Ubisoft went back to making good games and not treating their customers badly they would sell more games, and wouldn't have to shut studios down, it's not rocket science

It really seems to be rocket science, and its not just in gaming.

Corporations seem to be shorting themselves, going literally against any legacy and customer base they had.

Im not sure how they can be so out of touch.

Doesn't make sense does it!, when they are losing so much money and shutting down right, left and centre, they know full well why and just keep doing it

I watched my friend play this once in screenshare. I just remember thinking this was so fucking corporate and generic, I wouldn't be shocked if you had told me the entire thing was AI-generated. Ubisoft are like a sentient business suit at this point. Just hearing the name is depressingly corporate.
