Ubisoft Reportedly Remaking Original Assassin’s Creed

Ubisoft has recently revealed tons of new information regarding Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, including the game's release date. As the studio's first Assassin's Creed remake, Black Flag Resynced has already garnered plenty of praise, and fans are looking forward to what the future holds for the series regarding more remakes.

Ahead of the release of the series' first remake, many fans have already discussed which title would be most fitting for another revamp. According to the latest reports, it seems Ubisoft intends to remake the very first Assassin's Creed.

Some may remember that Ubisoft itself mentioned multiple Assassin's Creed remakes were being developed a while ago.

The popular insider Tom Henderson recently restated this information, noting that Ubisoft is focusing on one of the older Assassin's Creed titles for the second remake.

This tweet drew the attention of another popular Ubisoft and Assassin's Creed insider. Jonathan states via X/Twitter that contacts informed him of Assassin's Creed 1 Remake as far back as 2023.

Because fans have also asked Ubisoft to revisit the original Assassin's Creed plenty of times, it seems this title is now second in line to receive a full makeover after Black Flag Resynced.

It's definitely the one that needs it. I played it for the first time last year, on 360, and despite poor performance I enjoyed it.

Shadows underperformed, Hexe is marketed as the gayest AC ever (trans-lesbian-yass slop)... Black Flag, AC1 and the Ezio trilogy remakes are a gold mine for the current state of Ubi.

They better remake prince of persia sands of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Restart development. And then the sequels.

When the lore was biblical like the Apple of Eden in AC1 or the secret Adam Eve videos in AC2 the franchise felt mysterious because it overlapped with our real world in that sense, and searching the nooks and crannies of Jerusalem for collectibles felt like hunting for hidden conspiracy theory knowledge stuff, which was part of the appeal to me early in the franchise.

Remaking this and stuffing it to the brim with references to the Old Testament would be great

Remakes are the smart play for them, given their current activist employees can't be trusted with anything new. They will still try to ruin them, but at least with a remake there is something to try and hold them to.

I played and finished all of them before Shadows. I have no interest in playing Shadows, and Hexe sounds like something they should have cancelled already.

Easily the worst AC I've ever had the misfortune of playing. If they're going to remake any older AC, it should be the Ezio trilogy.

This is a good idea (unlike remaking AC4 which didn't need a full remake). AC1 isn't available for modern consoles with the exception of the BC version for the Xbox and the game has aged very badly. AC2 was a massive step forward in terms of making the gameplay enjoyable.

In a weird way, I actually feel that AC1 has held up better than AC2. I would rather see them remake that one honestly.

Same with Brotherhood and Revelations

I hope they don't ruin the Desmond bits. And I hope they don't touch the general loop of investigating the target and then doing the assassination. AC1 had its flaws, yes. But I still think it's far more fun than any of the AC games that came after Revelations.

I had a look to the source, when he got called, the guy made a yo momma joke so I don't know how serious this is

Instead of this remake make a Star Wars Outlaws 2! Building on what was right about the first game, it would be a refreshing alternative to what we've got and getting at the moment..

At this point, Ubisoft should only remake rather than develop new shit there bound to fuck up.

They have a catalog of epic games from their glory days, focus on that.

They have to remake the entire mission structure to make it fun. It was fun at the time, but I never bothered going through it again.

I thought that they've already tried that and it ended up being AC Mirage instead. Another attempt?
What they should think is how to rebuild all that narrative which has fallen to pieces again after Valhalla. Remaking AC1 could be a good idea if it will revitalize the overarching plot. If not then this was easily the worst AC game so why.

this one could use a remake.
honestly I'll take a ezio trilogy remake as well.
best locales they had are stuck in ancient visuals in that trilogy.

Shadows underperformed, Hexe is marketed as the gayest AC ever (trans-lesbian-yass slop)... Black Flag, AC1 and the Ezio trilogy remakes are a gold mine for the current state of Ubi.

Not to mention a PERFECT way to reinvigorate and retrain (on-the-job) the armies of fresh meat that have filled out their ranks after the waves of layoffs, cuts, restructures and reshuffles over the past 3 years.

They need to really deepen their new Director's understanding of what makes AC "AC", and how better to that that then committing them to meticulously remaking the age old critically acclaimed games that fired on so many cylinders.

A whole host of Western devs could learn something from this approach quite frankly.

a full reimagined reboot with desmond would be nice with some twists.
but it will probably just be like black flag resynced.

Uh, cursed be that day when this series was born. I mean, I like some of the games but fuckin' hell, what a bunch of creative impotents.

Finish SC remake first at the very fuckin' least!

The setup for each assassination is god awful, the modern day sections are sleep inducing and the protagonist is dry as cardboard.. he's much better in Revelations. Skip straight to 2 please.

It's interesting how they could approach this potential remake. Black Flag Resynced has this benefit of being a faithful remake as it doesn't really need any major changes in a structure or in a main story, but in case of AC1 this game could actually use a much more fleshed out approach to investigations or targets and incorporate much more meaningful side content. But with doing so, it would mean this specific remake wouldn't be faithful to source material. Some changes and refinements would really help it, but at the same time we have modern Ubi writers whose efforts seems to imply they highly likely wouldn't do it justice. So in a way it's a very intriguing conundrum

Well Ubi has secured next 3 AAA installments success atleast with BF, 1,2 and Brotherhood/Revelations.

Could it be? Can they finally unfuck the original story. Modern era Assassins Creed sections are gonna blow people's mind.

btw, you can buy the original Assassin's Creed on GOG, DRM free. It might not look as nice as modern games (although there might be mods to help with that) and it doesn't have very much side stuff at all, but I think it still holds up. At the time, Altair moving through crowds so naturally, as you can see in this trailer, was mindblowing.

btw for the GOG version it looks like you'll also want this https://www.nexusmods.com/assassinscreed/mods/29
and you'll also want to turn off the high dpi overrides so that you can view ingame movies...
and if you're like me and use a dualshock 4 you'll want to run it through Steam lol.
You know, PC gaming stuff ✊
