I knew it was eventually coming to consoles, but had no idea when. What a nice surprise. Been wanting to check this out ever since it released.

$25 US dollars

also getting a physical release on switch as well as a collectors edition with a game guide to the games full of stuff by the devs

Oh I've seen this on Steam a few times. The algorithm always recommends it.

Some of the games look pretty cool, like the Wizardry one.

The concept reminds me of this overlooked gem. Had a bunch of well-made fake games. The Dragon Quest one in particular was kick ass.

Pleasingly it got a switch release was pretty great as it added some new content & new games on top of the DS stuff.

It looks like FUCKING SHIT on switch 2
The crt filter is completely broken.

Do not play this is hand held.
Tried googling it but yeah don't get it in hand held

Not many people know about this one.

wtf and us gets shit on again

Um, the US, and every nation outside of Japan too, but sure, it's a drag...

There are actually 3 Game Center CX games (2 on DS, 1 on 3DS) plus the 1+2 Replay game on Switch last year.

The DS internationalized version of Game Center CX as Retro Game Challenge was I remember something of a miracle acquisition as it was. There's an unexpectedly high volume of language to translate, there's a licensed property which needs to be painted over (or licensed for international use, which would have been difficult to get Fuji TV to agree to back then, just as difficult as it was apparently for Fuji TV to get its money off of the show outside of Japan since only Season 1 ever got any kind of international release officially,) and then in 2007, there was just only so much crowd into old-looking games, even if these were brand-new old-looking games. GC CX took a year and a half to be brought over, by the small publisher Xseed, it didn't do gangbuster business, and unless it had a different name elsewhere, I don't know of any release in Europe or other countries. Back then, these little localization blessings needed to be counted as a gift on all sides of the pond.

Support UFO 50 before you go seeking fan-trans of Game Center CXs, both product lines are cool but Mossmouth needs to feel some love for this release!

Well, that sucks. How is Switch 1 though? I would imagine it should still be ok on OLED?

Seems weird that they waited so long to release on switch when it's literally the kind of platform these types of games do great on. It'll do fine on switch where indies are embraced not seen as some shitty filler for rental sub plans.

I thought he said that because it's non native on switch 2
Reading the thread it looks like he was complaining about something very specific: the crt scanlines while playing handheld on switch 2

I had no idea that there was even an option for crt scan lines. For what it's worth I usually ignore those features because I don't like it when they try to give a retro feel on modern devices

If I want scan lines I'll play on my CRT

I'm not home so I can't check this, but how do you even toggle it? Last night I was going through the options and they were super bare-bones and I don't remember seeing this.
Visual options.
For people that know. In M2 games the screenfilters are pretty legit.

This game is just bad. Did not check on tv.

Again. If you ignore them altogether it's fine

I've never seen a screen filter that looks decent on a modern tv

I'll mess with this when I get home though

Any retroarch stuff is legit.
The snes switch2 updated one looks pretty good. Shame about the piss grey forced backfrounds.

For a game like ufo50 it's a huge miss imo

You speak the truth booted it up and yup the screen filter is indeed fucked it's not been ported properly as the scanlines are all over the place in both tv & handheld mode in fact the right hand side of the screen seems to have extra messed up scanlines. Simply not been bugtested enough but hopefully can & will be corrected with a fix. Not really a switch problem as much as a it wasn't ported properly problem as there's loads of games on switch that have managed to get the screen filters looking amazing both capcom fighting collections been 2 of the recent examples i can think of off top of my head so there's really no excuse for this but outside of that the games play solid they feel just like the game centre cx ones in as much as they are fake games biut are solidly made only played the first handful so far but it's one i can chip away at there seems to be secrets to find too so some serious lasting power.

So mad that I bought this game like a week ago on Steam. I held out for SO long for a Switch version, then just broke down and got it on Steam.

Then of course it's immediately shadow dropped.

Well it looks like the devs are aware of the switch issues and are working on them as they announced it on Twitter.

Had a quick play of everything but the last row of games so far. unlike the stuff in the game centre cx games which feel like full but mostly shortish games the ones in ufo 50 look to be quite substantial. Already favourited a bunch of them as I work through some really well made games in there that could easily stand alone as eshop titles.

Some of the games are annoyingly vague though about what to do exactly but I get what they are aiming for where the appeal is it's supposed to be a bunch of old game disks where you didn't have the boxes or manuals and just figured things out on your own. Probably will be getting the fangamer collectors with the game guide as it will be nice to ha e that guidebook as well as this on cart.

Don't own a S2 still, are those grey really grey or they are black but LCD screens make them grey due brightness contrary to oled screens?

I've heard nothing but great things about this one. Will definitely pick it up.

Is there a Switch 2 specific version with 4K support and the works, or is it 'just' a Switch (1) title?

didn't realize you can get companion book separately

Think I'll be ordering that

Is the Fangamer version the only physical one?

Edit: Might get the Deluxe version then which comes with the book.

I'm enjoying this a lot so far. It has a Retro Game Challenge feel which is real nice.

Well hey, there's always the physical version with the book...

All CRT filters/shaders look like crap in anything but native resolution.
All retro game bros know that (Retroid Pocket Mini v1 vibes)

The switch oled is the better version. The scanlines are also pretty poor on it.

Switch 2 is the lesser version.

This is really niche shit here guys.
If you ignore the filters you will enjoy the game a lot. Just don't expect good filters
