After a rather lengthy delay this week, we finally have a look at the latest UK charts and would you believe it, the king has returned!

Yes, As it approaches its seventh birthday, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has once again sped into pole position, leaving the competition for dust.

Not to besmirch this achievement, but there isn't a lot going on in the gaming world this week. Hogwarts Legacy snatches up the silver, once again, while Super Mario Bros. Wonder has climbed the ladder and now takes the bronze.

Elsewhere, Princess Peach: Showtime! continues to perform well in the upper reaches of the chart and a surprise speed boost from Sonic Superstars sees the blue blur's latest round out the top ten. Also, notice that EA Sports FC 24 is nowhere to be seen near the top? It's down at 12th this week! That's right folks, it's finally out of the top ten!

UK Charts: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Speeds Into Pole Position, Once Again

For what it's worth, there is a lot of quality games on the charts nowadays. I remember 10 - 15 years ago when top 20 was always dominated by the likes of CoD, Madden, Fifa, WWE and a bunch of other sports and family games.

The only thing that can knock GTA 5 off the top charts for good is GTA 6

Good top 10. HL and MK close to each other, Mario Wonder still selling great.

I can't say if GTA6 will ever match GTAV in term of sales. The remote possibility of a NS version of GTAV will kill this chance for good.

Just show how bad FIFA and CoD are becoming with tons of tons of bad decisions and bad management.

Sonic appearing on sales might be a result of yet another new discount. This game has being on discount for as far I can remember.

As for the others, pretty good sales for Hogwarts. I bet the Suicide Squad fellas are really mad about this game, no amount of crap or crying gonna make this waste of 9 years ever being a seller. Kudos to Princess Peach as well, seems like Nintendo is doing what they do best, selling different kind of games with different characters from Mario. Sonic Team could learn a thing or 2 from them.

Helldivers and Peach continue showing really good legs, just not as good as Mario Kart 8 and GTAV.

I'm very surprised by Sonic Superstars being so low on Switch an EA Sports FC being instead so high.

I think price discounts on different versions can affect sales quite a bit.
