PLAYSTATION EXPERIENCE HEADS TO ALTON TOWERS
Sony's gaming showcase to feature live music show and national TV coverage
14:43 Sony has announced a glamorous new PlayStation Experience event for this year, to be held at the Alton Towers theme park in the UK.
Running from September 16 to 23 this year, the show is making the move from last year's London's Earls Court arena to Staffordshire's prestigious theme park, where attendees will be able to enjoy hands-on playtests of forthcoming PS2 games such as GT4 and Killzone.
As a dramatic finale, after 6pm on the final day, there will be a live music show, exclusive only to VIP guests and competition winners (details of which, are to be announced). Fortunately, for those unable to attend, national TV coverage is promised.
When we phoned Sony this morning to get the latest gossip, a spokesman told us: "This PlayStation Experience will not be like previous events where we had a big marquee, but there will be many consoles with the latest PS2 titles for people to play, plus a wealth of related activity and PlayStation-style events."
As for the end-of-show musical bonanza, he added that discussions with a number of musical acts were ongoing, and that we could "expect some very big names."
We're currently keeping our fingers crossed for a Spice Girls reunion...
