[UK] Police investigate virtual sex assault on girl's avatar

That’s not pornhub. It’s an educational book meant to educate people about the body and sexuality. Lots of adults would be better off if they had that sort of education when they were younger but alas we have to be puritanical about the subject matter. 10 and 11 is a good age to start teaching children if you wait till they are 16 they would have already started experimenting by themselves and often times not in a healthy way because they were never taught. Sex education is lacking.
This isn't about being puritanical, at all. Most children in the UK have normal sex education.

If you like vulgar sex books for kids hidden away in librarys, good for you 👍

There is nothing vulgar about using biological and common language to teach. Neck, Breast, Genitals, Anal, Sex are medical terms. Bum, BJ, etc are common language.

There is no sanitizing the subject matter. At ages 7 to 11 children already have a firm grasp of language and speech. That is when you start because they are able to understand what they are being taught.

There is nothing wrong with that book, you’re trying to make it seem like a pornographic book meant for anything other than explaining the body and sexuality using standard medical and common language.

If it’s hidden away how will children find it? It’s a library. Books are meant to be in the library in the appropriate section based on whatever system they use to arrange the books. Preferably in the educational and biology section, not hidden away.

As I said, good for you. You don't have to try and change my mind or make out I'm trying to do anything I'm not. The book speaks for itself, if you like that, good for you. I stated my reasons why the book could cause harm if a kid is on their own at such a young age 🤷‍♂️

We personally taught our kid ourselves about it all before any school did.

Wether I moan about it or not, it'll go ahead regardless. But now you know these things are going on, ask yourself

'When I look outside, do I see progress, or degeneration in kids?'

I don't need an answer, but you might want to think about why your answer is going to be the latter.

People out here pushing some of the weirdest narratives to justify their views.

I’m not trying to change your mind since you already have a closed mind. I’m refuting your assertion that the book does harm. The book is not pornographic and is educational.

You have not explained any such reasons why the clearly educational book would cause harm.
We personally taught our kid ourselves about it all before any school did.
Good for you. But not every parents are like you and clearly need help in teaching their children. Many didn’t have any such sex education at home. I had “health class” but all they did was talk about diseases and how to put a condom on a banana. That’s hardly education about the human body and sexuality.
Whether I moan about it or not, it'll go ahead regardless. But now you know these things are going on, ask yourself

I see adults trying to ban books that are clearly educational with the tired “think about the children” rhetoric, I see fear mongering. Same shit happened when I was a kid, let’s ban video games and book’s because children.

But I also see some progress with teens who know more about their sexuality than I did when I was growing up.

No one should be above the law, if they broke a relevant law in the UK then they should be prosecuted.

This felony in particular falls on the Cybercrime division, which does not deal with real world rapes, so it does not take away any human resources from the relevant departments.

This is a fallacy.

Different department, ringfencing of funds, etc. No matter how you put it, investigating this costs resources and money that are desperately needed elsewhere. Money in part funded by me, a taxpayer.

By everyone including the parents of the kid who was sexually harassed. I’m sure they want those people investigated. It’s not a waste of resources to them.

They quite literally were not sexually harassed.

You cannot even do virtual sex acts in Horizon Worlds. So yes, it is a wate of resources. I think I might have to write a letter to the relevant people.

If there is a legal recourse for me to take against someone who verbally sexually harass my daughter I would definitely take it, without question, fuck those degenerates. I don't get why people in this thread are getting bent out of shape because a couple of degenerates might get prosecuted.

They were quite literally sexually harassed. You can sexually harass someone verbally and doing so virtually also constitutes as sexual harassment. It’s not a waste of resources to investigate. Write all the letters you want is not going to change the fact.

Literally not. It was virtual; not real. And on top of that you are promoting absolution of responsibility.

People like you will be the downfall of our societies. It's pathetic.

Grow a thicker skin.

I agree you can be verbally sexually harrassed and it can be done so online, but I guess, I'm struggling with not knowing the details. We've all heard, said, and been the recipient of bad language online, whether in forums, chatrooms, game chat, or social media, at some point in our lives. What would help me understand why this is resulting in a criminal investigation is to know what actually was said or done and how long or how many times it happened.

I’ll tell you why. Because they are the same people who do those sorts of things online in video game voice chat on COD so they don’t want resources being put into investigating them. Lol

I dare you to threaten someone with violence on this forum. Since it’s not real and it’s virtual. Do it and see if there is no consequences.

Or perhaps don’t sexually harass people online. I know it’s difficult for you but try not to do it.

Paint everyone who disagrees with you as being a horrible person.

And heaven forbid people who do not want their tax resources dedicated to problems that can't be fixed by logging out of a video game.

As you seem to love the legal system so much, I'm sure you are aware that I could now take you to court for libel.

Perhaps it is you who should be careful what you do online.

An 11 year old doesn't need to know about prostate massaging and anal sex dude, and especially man-made axe wounds. New world indeed.
No shit? No pun intended. The book is meant for Parents and Teens. Parents can use that book as a guide to teach their children at their discretion.

Not when it's just being made available to kids via their schools they can't.
Don’t teenagers go to school? I don’t see anything wrong in having those books in school libraries for teens to read. It’s not pornographic. It is educational.

You don’t know what libel is. Take me to court.

You inferred that I 'sexually assault' people online. That is damaging to my reputation and therefore all I need for a valid case.

Of course I won't take you to court. That would be pathetically petty of me and a waste of all our time.

You tax dollars or pounds is not literally going into this specific thing. Everyone pays tax, our collective taxes are spend on things. Also this happened in whole different country so your tax didn’t go at all into this. Do you know what is a waste of tax money, government bailout of private companies and tax breaks for corporations. That’s a waste of tax not investigating sexual harassment online.

I inferred no such thing. Your own speech damages your own reputation.

You won’t win in a court but it would also be a waste of time.

I also have a daughter, but I can both want to protect her from online predators AND want to ensure due process is being followed in criminal investigations and ensure that the government is not overreaching and unnecessarily expanding it's power, which could be happening here.

Yeah, it's not pornographic.

Also very educational. "We're each bustin' a load into this bottle. If you don't cum you'll have to drink it"

Yeah sounds very educational to me. One of the books also tell you how to upload your pictures to dating apps. Perfect for 10-year-olds and teens.

Anyway we've gone completely off-topic here and I can see this place being locked.

There are absolutely some topics that high school students are mature enough for that younger kids are not. But teens are still extremely impressionable, have undeveloped brains, and are constantly looking for reasons they are unique, special, etc. So yes, being exposed to certain stuff by people in authority (schools) is not acceptable to many people, myself included. It is way too easy to mess up a kid's mind. Let's not encourage it please.

That much we can agree on.

Being exposed to things in an educational manner prepares them for when they encounter those things in the real world. If you cannot do it at home, then it should be done at school under the right adult supervision. There is no stopping teenagers being curious about things and if they learn about these things in a healthy safe environment, the wrong person won't teach them in the wrong way.
My skin is just fine thank you. You won't ever see me cry to the police when the solution is to unplug a headset.
It was a joke mate. Grow a thicker skin is a nonsensical sentiment used to dismiss people's feelings to shift blame from perpetrators to the victim of a crime. Someone who has been verbally sexually harassed does not need to grow a thicker skin, the harassers need to be taught better and learn it's not ok to harass people.

Here is an experiment

Threaten violence to anyone online and see how real it is or isn’t. The internet is a virtual extension of our social square. Harassing someone online deserves the same consideration given to harassment in person. Turning off the device after the fact does not diminish the traumatic incident that’s just occurred.
Here's another experiment.

Imagine that you could, at any time, end any harassment, or uncomfortable speech, or unpleasant behaviour - at the push of a button. Imagine that you carried a remote control with you through your life where you could simply mute anyone, at any time, for any reason.

Congratulations. On the internet, you have that remote control. Time to start using it. The internet is only 'a virtual extension of our social square' if that's what you want, and what you believe. To most well adjusted, normal people, it's something that ends as soon as you turn the computer off.

Touch grass.

I think you've missed the point slightly..

The problem isn't the fact of turning the computer 'off', it's the fact the police are 'investigating' it in the first place..

You know, while real people are being killed, daily. Grooming gangs rape kids, daily. Imported drug dealers operate with impunity, using kids, daily.

You know, real things. That police pretend don't happen.
I have absolutely no idea what point you're trying to make here. Did you infer from my post that I'm approving of police resources being used to investigate utter nonsense?

I think you've missed the point slightly.

I'm sorry, but the information that was posted in that book goes far beyond being "educational".

There's absolutely no need to strip kids of their innocence at such a young age.

I won't derail the thread anymore, but maybe? I can't be arsed to go back through the thread searching what it was I was replying to but aye, I agree, it's all a bit shit

I doubt it'll get better. Nothing we say here will change it.

Where did you get that every thing happened in Horizon Worlds ? I read both articles but I don't think the software used by the "not yet 16 girl" has ever been nominated? Horizon Worlds is rated 18+ so a child is not supposed to be playing with it ...

England had a good run. Had a business trip there in the early 2000s, and then again in 2021. The difference was absolutely staggering in such a short period of time.
Let's be honest, all of this insanity has its roots in U.S college campuses.

Just like McDonald's and Hollywood, it's an American export.

I myself have been staggered at the decline all across the west during the last 20+ years.

Try visiting Paris, or the dystopian open sewer that was the once beautiful city of Los Angeles, or the run down neighbourhoods of Chicago struggling with gang violence, or parts of Stockholm, or Brussels.
No matter where you go, there is an obvious difference in the way it is and the way it was even 10 years ago in some cases, never mind 20.

It's always been bad in some places, of course, but today it's like a lot of people have given up and those running things are making everyday life visibly worse.

Homeless people are everywhere, graffiti, trash, drug addiction, people working 40 hour weeks yet can't afford rent and have to live in a tent or their car.

They feel abandoned, and have a complete lack of hope.

The scale of the damage done in some of these nations and cities by poor financial management, under funding, over crowding etc...is really sad.
