Well done Suairyu, I should really post in this thread more
Don't give up! It has been three years since I graduated, and June to November I worked a shitty job in retail management that crushed all my self belief, making me feel incompetent and unemployable. I bounced back and realised the first step of my dream.Nice, congrats suraiyu. I'm still waiting for a job in engineering :/
I'm going to be a production assistant for a major television producer of factual entertainment TV and internet shows (documentaries). My initial contract is simply for logging - creating transcripts of footage before it is all sent off to edit - but it's a place where you wear many hats, so it'll include research, maybe some writing etc. I'll be working on three different shows which will be broadcast on (I think) the BBC within the coming months.oh! Where are you working and doing what, if you don't mind me being a nozy bastard.

I'll not outright name the employer, if you don't mind, but using the information in this thread I'm sure you could easily work them out if you really cared.
You have no idea how much I'm going to relish the phone call tomorrow after the amount of hassle they gave me for arranging the work placement with this company in the first place. You should wave it under the JCP's nose. You clearly needed their help haha
So I'm now employed in the television industry.
I GOT A FUCKING JOB doing something I enjoy in an industry I've always wanted to work in.
Thanks for being there for me during all this, guys.
edit - and The Last Story for Wii arrived from LoveFiLM while I was out. This is the best day ever. Going to be an amazing long weekend.

I love Betty's. You can't beat it for pinky-out Englishness. I'd love to go to one of those piano evenings but I don't have a house to remortgage. Have you ever been to El Guacho, the Argentinian steakhouse? I hear mixed reports about it.

Bwahahaha.Congrats on the job Suairyu.
Here's what Charlie Brooker has to say about what to expect:

But he spent far too long reviewing Wolfenstein last time. I wasn't impressed.Charlie Brooker need to do more gameswipe.
Charlie Brooker sold out.
Buuuuuuullshit
He really has. He used to lampoon all those quiz shows and the celebs who appeared on them. Now he has his own C4 show with other celebs, trying too hard to tell bad jokes.
He was much better in his Wipe days.
Really? He was appearing on those as quickly as he could. Apart from making fun of Phil Jupitus the odd time I don't remember him ever being critical of that segment of TV. Reality shows were always his big target, never really panel shows.
Not that I disagree with the latter statement. 10 O'Clock live is a bunch of funny, talented dudes discovering that they have zero chemistry, episode by episode. And Brooker is by far the best bit, even if it's far removed from, say, this.
"Where's the paper" is the song of our time.
And Barry Shitpeas is the man of our time
One of the reasons I'm going to avoid becoming a runner.Congrats on the job Suairyu.

Sometimes I think that Brooker acts out his cynicism to appear more edgy than he is, especially in recent months, but the Black Mirror anthology is a classic of our time.
Simply fantastic television, especially the gameshow one.
Drink your alcohol cabinet stash.I really hate that the pubs and off licences are closed today. What the fuck am I supposed to do after work now?

I'm planning on a night on the town tonight and my local club will be open.
This is Ireland, son. We're still following some dumb law that the church made up a long long time ago.

I ate meat today. Oops
Feels like a Saturday today. Bank holidays always mess with my mind like this.
