UMD Viewing on Airplanes -- Ambient Noise Issues

I've attempted to watch two different UMD movies on airplanes and experience the same problem clearly hearing dialog, even with the PSP turned up all the way.

I tried switching from the standard PSP earbuds to a low-end pair of Sony headphones (MDR-V150) which didn't help.

I'm sure noise cancelling headphones resolve the problem, but I'm still curious:

Has anyone else had this problem? Are cetain UMDs mixed louder, or with a more prominant center/vocal channel? Does the PSP have an adjustable mix so that we can isolate and turn up the dialog?

The kind of earphones with small rubbery earplug type ends that are supposed to go in your actual ear canal seem to work well for me.

I have some Sony ones, the MDR-EX71s. They were like 50 bucks and have pretty good sound quality for the price. Each includes 3 different earplug sizes so you can find one with the best fit.

Hmm don't know what to tell you on this one.. I've didn't have this issue when I flew to Palm Springs last month I watched Arthur and Tron no problem with the sound.... cycle through the UMD Movie Volumes to make sure.

Were you sit on the plane makes a big difference when it comes to noise. It's a common problem most energy savings gadgets have low sound output. I find that headphones that cover your whole ear help.

King Arthur? Those would be both BVHE releases. I wonder if they master their movies differently.

Wear headphones. Hear your shit more clearly and save the person next to you from having to hear PSP's tinny-ass sound at full blast.

I'm guessing you didn't read the first post.... :lol
