We are in the Creators generation Roblox perfected what Sony failed at with Little Big Planet & Dreams ( Not really Sony's fault they just targeted the wrong platform)

Creators in these games have their own following & adding Unity will open Fortnite up to more creators.

So wait, unreal is going to use fortnite as a wrapper to launch and run Unity developed games.

Or are we just talking a launcher that just runs different projects

Yep UEFI will be replace or augmented with Unity going forward I bet. Fortnite is going all in on the Roblox aspect. Fortnite will become the "HUB" where you a use your skins and purchases across all Unity games added to Fortnite. SO imagine you make a COD clone in Unity it will allow you to buy skins from Fortnite's Store and use those all the unity games inside Fortnite.

Kinda like a closed version of what they wanted to do with NFT web 3 gaming. Except its all inside Fortnite now..

So we could see a Fortnite "OS" you boot it up and its the OS for all your games some day..

Playstation HOME ish vibes.

Yep and PlayStation Home is another thing Sony did that was ahead of its time but limited by it's user base.

EA might want to jump in with this idea before it's too late The Sims is actually the perfect hub .

But what does 'adding Unity' mean? I thought they were competing game engines.

Fortnite is like Roblox now.
Been saying this jokingly for a bit now.

The UEFN editor doesn't let you bend that stuff to your creative will quite like roblox studio does. The modes like the fall guys, rocket racing or lego stuff act more as movement templates alternate to the STW/BR movment. The modes are in good paraody of those seperate titles but still are the "fortnite" versions of those games.

Hopfully the user created stuff gets some greater flexibility out of this cause so many FN modes made in either creative 1.0 or UEFN can end up looking or feeling samey cause of the siloed assets and resources availble to use.

Plus you get all the low effort copycats but nothing like the "knockoffs" we tend to see controversially blow up on roblox.

I've never played Fortnite so I'm not really sure what this means, or whether its good or bad? 🤔

But what does 'adding Unity' mean? I thought they were competing game engines.

In Fortnite or Minecraft, you can show your friend the thing you made with a bunch of materials.

In Roblox, you can show them the game you made using its in-game tool.

Now, in Fortnite you can show them what you made in Unity.

It didn't really make sense to me at first but then I saw the Roblox-ness of it, they're branching off of that.

It's insane how a knockoff BR has turned into a platform, that is usurping competitor's works and forcing (by market penetration) their platform work into theirs.

Tim really hit the jackpot ketting go of AAA development and choosing to ape PUBG.

Doesnt Fortnite already do this though. Last time I played there were hundreds of 'games' available.

You can launch games from within Fortnite?
Unity commerce platform?

I have no idea what modern gaming is even more.
What is even happening anymore? I honestly don't understand what's being said in the OP lol
Fortnite has the game(s) made by epic. Various version of the BR, the Lego Minecraft-like game, there's a concert thing, and some other stuff.

There are also other user created games published in Fortnite that you can play. For example, there's a prop hunt game, there's dragon mining game, etc.

Some of these are very rough, but it's cool that they're there.

This tells me they won't be for long

Boring MetaVerse crap.
Game companies don't care about you being bored. The exist to make money from you now. This is what people like and will grow Fortnite into an even more power house.

Not saying I disagree but they don't care about the same things we as gamers do.
